Re: My own 2015 BB200

Definitely an epic that.. The essence of what it's (sometimes !) all about. But my mind keeps repeating to itself, why didn't he get at least 2 or 3 hours of shuteye... Or maybe you did ? Good effort, well done No Shuteye Eric... Only the occasonial long blink whilst on the bike resulting in drifti...

My own 2015 BB200

Despite entering the 2015 BB200, I couldn’t participate for various reasons. I had bought the tee-shirt when I entered and it had remained folded and unworn in my wardrobe, as I wouldn’t let myself wear it until I had earned the right. I always hoped that I would ride the route at some point. So whe...

Re: Iceland

Bike tour and camp around the SW is fun and plenty to see and be in awe of... Route 1 isn't too horrendous, although when it is pouring down and you are riding into a monster headwind, and there is loads of traffic, then it's not so nice... That only happened to me once in two weeks though so the od...

Re: DD Hammocks/Tarps??

I have the DD ultralight hammock and think it is very good. It packs very small and light. I do wonder how it supports me sometimes as the fabric is very light...

Check http://www.hammocker.co.uk for reviews of various hammocks and related equipment. It's a good read...

Re: WTD: 26" steel forks.

Would £30 posted be agreeable?

213mm steerer and they have the star nut fitted. There is a calliper mount bolted to them too so a 180mm rotor fitted OK.

They are not pristine, but are not battered to death either.

I can take a picture or two if you like, though that would be tomorrow...

FS: Monkii Clip. Both cages now sold.

SOLD Monkii Cage. V Type I believe. Never used, but I did take it off the packaging to try out on my bike in the shed. Took it straight back off again as I couldn't see that I would use it instead of my regular bottle cage(s). £8 SOLD Gorilla Cage. Never used or taken off the packaging. £15 Monkii ...

Re: Exposure Joystick - anyone got one?

I used a Mark 6 Joystick on the bars on its own on the 2013 BB200 and managed fine. I used the same Mark 6 on my helmet and a new Mark 9 on the bars for BB200 2014, which was better. A very competent combination and well worth the money. I use them every day for commuting and find them plenty light ...

Nothing planned so far for either of the proposed dates.

Hot food and beer sounds good to me.

I'm in unless a family commitment rears it's head between now and then.

Re: Racing in Iceland anyone?

It's not just the elevation. It's the surface. Those gravel roads may look innocuous, but they are bloody hard work to cycle on. I imagine racing on them would be especially difficult. Still doesn't dissuade me from thinking very seriously about entering though. I love the country and this sounds li...

Going to try out my hammock on Bach to Bach this weekend! I shall try and find somewhere woody to sleep.. My son writes a good hammocking blog that does cover different models that he reviews. He is mad on hanging... The few times I have tried it, I liked it very much. http://www.hammocker.co.uk Si

Re: Saturated ground.

Dartmoor is a most excellent sponge! In my (somewhat limited) experience, I would suggest it is unique in its ability to hold water. I don't think I would want to sleep out there at the moment, unless as mentioned, I was using a hammock. I shall also keep an eye out for the Tyvek option. I used to p...
