The OS app does although you have to download the maps with an internet connection first.

A mates place had woodworm all through the rafters and joists although no sign of any live ones. They were still plenty solid so he used the DIY treatment and not had any problems since

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

November. Well after all those expert bivvy shenanigans I did a dull conventional one. Hey ho..... Off I went into the face of a surprisingly decent forecast (we keep getting hints of horrible late Autumn weather but then it fairs up again) doing my usual trick of making random turns onto random tra...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

That said I think the Kasais are the way forward as you can periodically unscrew the armature and give it a clean without having to strip the hub out of the wheel (I think some of the Shimano ones are similar.) I'm told the wiring side bearing isn't replaceable but my view of this is that if it wen...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Pulled another SP dynohub apart.... This was one I've had on the road bike for a few years but very few miles so it was a bit annoying when I fitted it this year and it appeared to be siezed. A small amount of force got the wheel moving but to the accompaniment of much squeaking. I pulled the end ca...

Alpkit have started their Black Friday sale - https://alpkit.com/collections/black-friday . Re: Biggest rideable climb in Britain?

the track that goes from the road pass at 626m up to about 770m. How rideable is the track? Bonus question: Does anyone know if this has been Everested from the very bottom at Tornapress? If you want everest Applecross, you'd need to do it mid week in the late Autumn or Winter as any other time you...

Re: Biggest rideable climb in Britain?

Corrieairyack is 710 from the wee road on the north side to the summit - all rideable with the right leg / gear. Its actually only slightly more than my local climb in the Ochills - 700m. So Cairngorm as per Colins' idea is 923 and Snowdon is 959 from Llanberis. Guess someone needs to try and ride t...

Or just use a bog standard shimano hub and spacers. Even XT hubs are fairly cheap if you get the old style 6 bolt / big flange/QR ones.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Marvelous stuff Shaff, well done It occurs to me that bivvying on the summit of Ben Macdui (alt 1300m) as a random example, is fairly straightforward, requiring only the right kit, and probably weather, and a modest amount of oomph to get up it. Whereas bivvying in the middle of London requires a wh...

Re: Some thoughts on gloves...

I've never tried pogies on a push bike, strikes me that if its cold enough to be icy out, you may want to 'arrest' a fall quite suddenly and having your hand enclosed may be an issue. Or is this simple not an issue once you get used to them? As I say, never used them so I am asking rather than crit...

Re: Further Adventures in Rough Stuff.

Been delving into it a bit deeper. Interesting that many of the Scottish photos were taken by a chap called George Berwick, a resident of Fife who used to turn up to our cycling conferences back in the early 2000's - a jolly decent bloke who seemed to spend all of time on his touring iron. Not sure ...
