Re: What's your current dream bike?

This thread is a goldmine for my Wildcat bikepacking frame R&D. (so far I've got Pinion, with an IGH, beltdrive AND chain, replaceable sliding dropouts that also rock and an eccentric BB. Geometry to work with drop bars and flat bars (maybe at the same time), steel tubing with a carbon wrap and ...

Re: Framebuilders and thru axle makers???

Bear Frame Supplies made me a bunch for some steel forks I was building. Good value. Might be worth asking. It might be something they can do relatively cheaply even as a one-off if they are already making them.

ask for Aaron and tell them I sent you.

Re: Framebuilders and thru axle makers???

Paul Components do one. Paragon Machine Works do one (although it's 175mm) 171mm length is short for 150mm spacing. Is that 171mm from the inside face of the hex end to the end of the axle? How long is the threaded section? Rockshox Maxle is 15x1.5 so maybe they'd have something (for the Bluto) but ...

Re: The 2022 Tour Divide watchers thread.

A separate group start for women is a terrible idea. Of course it is. Why on earth would you divide up riders based on gender when gender obviously has no bearing on the speed they can ride, or their endurance, or their ability to finish or in fact, anything to do with the race. What next year. Sep...

Re: Lael Wilcox AZT FKT controversy.

I think that there are so many other opportunities and challenges for endurance/adventure cyclists to get involved with, I'm actually surprised riders (and even more, sponsors) go for this sort of thing anyway. I find following fast endurance racing pretty dull. There's never really that much of a s...

I have the Dr Jon strapdeck and modified some Voile straps (longer ones are too wide to get through the holes so needed shaving) Just to say that all of the standard Voile straps including the longest (32") fit through the holes on the drj0n Strapdeck just fine. I can only assume you have the ...

No issues, they're designed to work with a threaded T47 or a PF30. The minor diameter of a PF47 is the same (or close enough to be irrelevant) to the internal diameter of a PF30.

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

I do like their rear drop out detailing. Not available for SS though which their gravel bike frame is. Probs just as well as I'd end up buying one.... The T47 bottom bracket means that you can fit an EBB. The gear hanger is removable and isn't tied into the axle placement so it can be removed reall...

If you know the part number, drop an email to dean@shandcycles.com Shand used to keep a lot of different Paragon dropout parts in stock. Can't say for sure I know what they have right now but it's worth asking.

Re: Bike insights comparison, are they really so similar (Ramin vs rocky road)

My experience is that there are a ton of inaccuracies on bikeinsights. So much of it is just user generated so I'd double check that it's all as it should be. I think it's a great resource and if you can get the brands verified and locked then it would be a great tool. As far as bikes being really s...

I have a RF Aeffect crank on a fatbike and it needs a crank extractor, 8mm bolt then a regular Shimano style extractor. That was specced as an OE crank though. That might make a difference.

Some good chat on this thread. We always try and do something for the BB crew and so if anyone wants to jump on a Wildcat harness (Lion-front or Tiger-rear) then use the code 'tenten' at the checkout and get 10% off.

I buy into the school that says keep the same length stem. The idea is for your hands to be further back. That's the point of the sweep back position. I'm too lazy to look but I'm pretty sure I've read Jeff Jones explaining this is how they were designed.

It's not hard to look at but I'm just not seeing anything that hasn't been available from various manufacturers for years. Am I missing something obvious? I think it's really nice. I don't think it has to offer something that is unique or hasn't been available before. People buy all sorts of things...
