Adventure cycle festival - Shillies 'undred

Did anyone at the Adventure cycle festival ride the 100km gravel route? If so, do you have any feedback?

Re: Jenn Ride - Bearboners...

Just back from a short ride around Green Quarter. It's lovely & dry up there, apart from the few boggy bits which seem never to dry out. A lovely day here with cirrus, cirrostratus & cumulus and 20C.

Great. I'll see you there. I'm familiar with quite a bit of the route but it'll be my first time bikepacking so please be gentle.

Just in: Mount Skidmore bottle cage adapter in black. How much more black could this be? None. Sterling service once again from Wildcat Gear.

Wanted: Black Mount Skidmore Bottle Cage Adapter

Does anyone have a *black* Mount Skidmore Bottle Cage Adapter they want to sell? I'd normally buy from Wildcat but they don't have any in stock.

Do double-check the ferry is running at the time you expect to arrive. As I discovered a couple of days ago, it's a long way round if it isn't. http://www.fba.org.uk/ferry-cam

Re: running out of idea's. handlebars/arthritis.

I've very recently been through the same process, for similar reasons. Had a long chat with Graham Theobald of thebodyrehab.co.uk. Ended up moving the saddle back to take weight off the arms, and rotated the brakes & shifters down so the wrist has to flex less to brake/shift.

You can get semi-recumbent tandems which give the stoker a much better view. Saw one in Newcastle recently, well sorted for touring.

Re: Lakes weekend - Fri 17 to Sun 19 March

Had a quick trip over to Rydal Cave today. There's always some water in it - you have to cross the stepping stones to get in, but there's plenty of flat, dry space inside. The best of it looked to be close to the entrance. There's a bigger area deeper into the cave, but it's interspersed with puddle...

Re: Lakes weekend - Fri 17 to Sun 19 March

Ben The Priest Hole is well worth a visit, but not by bike. It's a way off the proposed route, and there's a lot of climbing up some narrow footpaths, culminating in a scree chute then a simple scramble. I'll try & get over to Rydal Cave before Friday & check out the floor. There's usually p...

You can still get battery powered backup devices, but they're not cheap. See NEXTODI & HyperDrivere here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Stand-Alone-Data-Storage/ci/3369/N/4000227848 Also, see the review & comparisons here: https://havecamerawilltravel.com/photographer/nextodi-nd2901-rev...

How do the quilt users amongst us fare with bivi bags?

And could someone please translate the girths used in Borah and Ti Goat descriptions into widths? It would make a comparison much easier.

Barney

I've got an old Quasar you can have. It's not light but that shouldn't be a problem for car camping. Hugely spacious. In its time it had plenty of use, and the fly sheet is getting very fragile.

You could take the Windermere branch line to Staveley and then look at what the Lakeland 200 and JennRide routes have to offer.

Re: Kendal - Anyone live there

Plenty of places to live in the environs. Kendal gets snarled up in the rush hours, but that's relative and nothing like more populous areas. Most of the bridges have now been fixed but do avoid low-lying properties. Bank holidays are busy; in fact, the whole district is much busier than it used to ...
