Re: Free tickets for Saturday
Seems a pretty odd one, I agree... I just entered all the competitions on the sky app without looking too closely when I was waiting for my son, and obviously won this one... If it was closer to home, and I wasn't organising a 10th birthday party the next morning I'd have done a train/ride/bivvy com...

Free tickets for Saturday
Totally off topic, but does anyone want a pair of tickets for Faithless & horse racing in Carlisle on Saturday evening/night? Rather strange question, I know! I appear to have entered a competition and not looked at where the venue was...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
I agree - I am the first owner but have used it to commute and other bits on for at least 5 years.... And it's a fairly light cyclo-cross race frame which I've definitely abused & enjoyed, my route home from work takes in one of the rother valley DH tracks (very tame, but still) and plenty of ro...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Sadly, what I've done to my bike today is find several cracks in it ☹️ Had a mystery creak that I couldn't get rid of, so gave the bike a good clean before planning on a strip/clean/regrease of the BB area. Unfortunately, spotted a little crack on the chainstay... Didn't look too bad, so rode it to ...

Postie delivered the main requirement for our summer holiday in France this weekend... A pair of close fitting swimming trunks/budgie smugglers. According to Mrs E the delivery was "a very small package", how lucky I am to have married a comedian!

Re: Todays ride
Relatively short, lightly hilly but momentous ride today. My wife has just got out of a crappy, overly stressful job which combined with a damaged rotator cuff & nerves has made her pretty sedentary for the last 2 years. Bought her a swytch ebike kit earlier in the year, and today was our first ...

Re: What other sports/fitness/exercise do you do?
Extra energy used is the same as the work done against gravity, so m.g.h, which would be about 22,000J or 22kJ or 6kCal... Obviously, the body isn't totally efficient, and you also need the muscular energy to grip them and move, but sadly it's not a lot! sorry for the nerdiness... Now, if you includ...

Re: What other sports/fitness/exercise do you do?
Depending where you live, fell running can be great as it's the same outdoors bit, and needs minimal extra equipment compared to bike riding - pretty much a pair of shoes.
Otherwise, if you are married/cohabiting then is there something new and outdoors to do together?

Can't remember the make, but I've a pair of red LED ones, which screw in and offer a little extra visibility too If there is anyway you could check and let me know that wold be great. I've often thought led ones would be great but I've not seen any that screw in. Cheers Can't find the exact order, ...

Re: Todays ride
After what can be described as a catastrophic last 12 months I am finally back on the bike, the damage done to my brain actually means that cycling is much easier than walking, I have been very worried that I would not be able to ride again, at least now I am able to start the rebuilding process, a...

Re: What are you drinking now?
Well, exactly... Kind of thought I was bidding for 4 boxes of 4 cans, so put a tenner plus VAT and fees as a bid... Turned out one lot was 4 boxes of 12 and the other was 60 cans! Seeing as the whole lost cost me £30 all in I'm pretty happy!

Re: What are you drinking now?
Quite a lot of this... https://www.vocationbrewery.com/products/sunset-overdrive-8-0-pin-colada-sour-440ml Bidding on 4 boxes of it on an auction site, thought I'd been out bidded so added another... Turns out it was a different listing, so I now own 108 cans! Anyone riding through S10 who likes sou...

Not sure if they're still available, but I always got on well with conti race kings for that kind of use (until I put one on the back of the tandem, and shredded it in about 40miles...)

Re: How would you carry a bike on shoulders!?
Just been to Rivelin reservoirs and Wyoming Brook (I think that's what they're called) for a walk. Definitely the lack of continuous bridle paths but lots of footpaths joining the dots, has me thinking it might be a worthy investment (the strap harness thingy). Plenty of good, if not quite right of...

Re: Today's Run
Austwick Amble fell race today. Fast, entirely runnable allegedly 11km (but 12.5 on my watch). Didn't intend to run it, but we're on holiday nearby and I had fell shoes in the boot. Felt very off to not have my dark peak vest on my back for a race though! Finished mid-pack I think, in just over an h...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
May or may not be a bargain, but hopefully so... Lidl have poncho/tarps for £12, with 20% off today if you have a coupon on their app. Looks ok, but only just got it out of the bag so not pitched yet. Weight is a bit over 500g, with no lines or pegs, so will probably be about 600 all in. Hood seems ...

Re: Today's Run
Very much in agreement about the rain bit. Warm and rainy earlier in the week, ended up doing most of my run shirtless which was great but drew some very strange looks from walkers in full waterproofs! Nearly gave in and took the lift home yesterday as the rain was so heavy that the roads were overf...

Re: Frame bosses (bottle / fork cargo cages)
Just to check, are you meaning the thread size/diameter or the allen key size?
As above, I thought all bottle mounts are M5, but with either a 3, 4 or (I think) 5mm allen key head. M5 also handy as it's the same size as a brake rotor bolt in case of loss

Re: Today's Run
Sadly, I can't even blame it on going too hard - learnt that a few years back when I'd gone flat out down to newlands, passing about 10 folk including Nicky Spinks who then took the piss on the way back up the other side and in the car home. Pretty much entirely thigh cramp related, think I need som...
