Re: Fat Fighters '23
I'd like to join in this year please. I'm fed up procrastinating every few months about losing weight and getting fitter, so this will hopefully give me the motivation to move my ass. Getting older and lazier makes it harder to keep the weight off, plus blood pressure and cholesterol going in the wr...

Re: Outdoor Active - is it now that we lose all our ViewRanger maps?
I didn't use either of these so dont know all the ins and outs but doesn't an OS Premium membership give you on line and download access to 1:25k and 50k? Premium was discounted recently (ish) via OS' site and some re-sellers so could be had for (iirc) £24/year. I'd be keen to know this as well if ...

Waterproof Socks
Hello all. I'm after some new waterproof socks, looking for any experiences or advice pls. In the past I've had sealskinz (didn't really rate them) and goretex socks (loved but foolishly sold on). I'm looking at the following: Geckowear, Shower's Pass or Dexshell... Anyone recommend one over the oth...

Re: Tubeless question
Great advice as always folks, many thanks. I've always used Stan's and so far have been more than happy with it, but I'm in need of new sealant shortly so will look into the olive stuff and also the orange brand. Cheers much, Peter

Tubeless question
So, I've been successfully running tubeless for over a year on two bikes and all is good. Every 4/5 months or so, I've been topping up each wheel with some fresh sealant, but at what point do I take the tires off and remove the solidified gunk that I expect will be there and start all over again? Wh...

WTD waterproof trousers
Well my annual bike kitty is almost bare and I've decided I need/want a pair of waterproof bike trousers. Something like Endura Humvees, preferably black in size large. Anyone got any they'd like to move on?

Re: Looking for a headtorch
Thanks for all the replies. That Nitecore looks nice and compact, however it's 'only' 300 lumens, where Stu's light he links to is 1200! How much output is adequate for trail riding do you suggest?

Looking for a headtorch
Well I have searched the forums, but can't seem to find one that looks right for me....i want a headtorch (so not a helmet mounted light) that will compliment my exposure bar light for night riding (just a few hours at a time, not all night stuff) and is also fine in the tent for long winter nights....

Tubeless inflator
Just noticed a few small compact air inflators in the local TK Maxx, those RAC branded portable ones that plug into cig lighters. They said up to 100 psi, so would these be suitable to give the suitable blast to mount the bead? Been using the come bottle method, but it's a bit of a chore at times 🙂 ...

Re: OT - Boot Repair
My 2p’s worth is that the OP should bite the bullet and get Altberg to do the pro repair. My experience is that if the sole is starting to come away glueing will just delay the inevitable need for a proper fix and Altbergs are well worth fixing. You're right. I just want to give it a try myself and...

Re: OT - Boot Repair
I have just used some of this stuff to stick the sole back on to my SPD shoes. Seems to have worked well so far but I have only used them for one ride since the repair. https://www.stormsure.com/adhesives/stormsure-flexible-repair-adhesive-15g-tube.html I bought it to repair holes in a couple of ai...

OT - Boot Repair
A bit off topic, but the sole on my 10 year old leather Altberg boots has started to come away at the front. I know Altberg do a sole/rand repair service but it's pretty costly, so I'm looking at the DIY options for now. Is Shoe Goo still the go-to for all-weather boot repairs like this, or anyone r...
