Extra points for black pudding, lost them however with the use of generic brown sauce rather than HP....

Re: Dropper post curious

Thanks. It’s for a Canyon Exceed so I’ll look into cable routing. Pretty sure it can go internal. The Brand X looks a good bet as not too much cash

Dropper post curious

I went riding on Dartmoor today where there is some proper steep stuff.I realised that I’m old and scared now and could do with a bar controlled dropper. But I have no idea about what’s good and also what, if anything, can work well with a rear bag. Any advice (apart from MTFU)?

Cheery Friday here as my Cambridge Audio A1 amp has arrived and I can go turntable shopping at the w/e Oooooo, what are you looking at demoing...? Very happy with my recent Rega Planar 3 50th Anniversary purchase. I'm a bit skint so looking at a Denon DP29F. My amp does not have the phono module an...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Pretty cheery seeing as it's my 64th birthday, just back from a 2 hour recce ride around the course of the mountain bike race I'm participating in on Sunday. It starts about 200m from home and the local trail fairies have been very busy clearing miles of single track in the forest that surrounds th...

Re: BB200 - a few thoughts.

At a complete tangent. Anyone fancy a 2014 route reunion ride? 7 years have completely dulled the memory and I found myself thinking about riding it again. It will be at least me and Stu (on the shopper)

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

I drive through a load of 20 zones in Scotland over the past few days. I slowed down to about 24 probs maybe a bit less. So worked in my case as I’d maybe have not killed a child in front of my car. Without the sign I’d have done 34. TBH the speed felt painfully slow but then I’m in a gurt big metal...

Re: What do you recall from your 2 days (BB200s)

Getting very cross when I got stuck in a fence around a pheasant enclosure towards the end of the 2014 edition. I was close to 24 hours and didn’t have the time to faff about in a fence! Eventually finished (my favourite version) in about 25 hours. Thought I might get lynched for that - I'd checked...

Re: BB200 2023

At about K170 I decided I wouldn't take the left turn for the bonus final loop on the 300, being in something of a bad mood at that point. When I got there, in the sunshine, it was easy to do (A brief chat with John Allan and his mate helped!) although as a sting in the tail, it scored highly.... I...

Re: New Map Time

I've got a crude map renderer up and running (no it is not sweary just basic). Does anyone care these days if the road data is Openstreetmap as opposed to Ordnance Survey? Reason I ask is that my previous maps used OS data for the road network but it's easier to make maps from OSM data? If no one re...

Re: What are you reading now?

Just read Jenny Grahams book on her RTW record. Overall a good read (although wait for the paperback version next year as its only £10.) but chaotic writing in parts which actually was a reflection of the ride so in context. Looks like she suffered horribly and took a long time to recover physicall...

Re: New Map Time

I highly recommend TT maps as the guy does an amazing job maintaining them. The main differences between mine are that I use OS data rather than OSM (apart from rights of way) and also burnt in bothies and ITT routes.

Re: New Map Time

Sorry but I lost my previous build for this and am painstakingly rebuilding it with new OS data and python scripts. It’s really quite complex and I’m dead busy with work. I promise it’s before learning portuguese on the list, just can’t say exactly when

I so don't miss the wet chalky section of the Ridgeway in rain. I did it a few times sub-zero, needed airbags.

My friend Andy Linguard would have been one of the hippies, he lives on a barge outside of Honey Street.
