Re: Kayak Oar/Long Pole Carrying on a bike

I've tried my Greenland paddle along the top tube, but as its made from Cedar it was denting when strapped in place.
I think it needs packing and protecting before I try it again

Re: Bikepacking hall of fame?

Recently I mentally added Jon Climber to that list too. Though he was always a legend in my eyes, but a recent message made me realise how far out the box he actually thinks/looks. #blush When you say "Bikepacking" I class this as a chilled out ride, stop when you fancy, take photos, taki...

Re: Iceland Divide 2024: need advice on tent, sleeping mat and stove

Iceland is a fantastic country but very fickle with its weather.
Expect, plan and train for riding into an all day head wind full of rain and hail.
And if you get a good weather window it will be a bonus

Re: Today's Run

1st time poster here on this thread. I used to run a little, building up to several park runs. Never wanting to do more that that really, marathons aren't for me. But I always developed shin splints and was unable to walk. I fancy re starting again but how do I avoid getting shin splints and pains i...

Re: South of Southport Bivi July 7th after Karl's talk

Where and when are people meeting before hand for food? Pete and I are planning on riding over from the winter hill area. Hi Bill, I'm told that there are a few places to eat and drink near the venue. We'll head over there in plenty of time and get a pie and a pint... Or whatevers on offer. Go and ...

Another vote for outdry, they are amazing
Or Gore shakedry
Both don't have any DWR and they are perfect for the UK, if you get wet, undo the zip a bit to vent it

Re: Just how long ....

Again depending on the terrain and weather, also what time of day you start out. Take the WRT leaving at 1pm Sat - up to 30 miles Sun - 50 miles (maybe another 70 would be ok if less hilly or technical without any pushing Mon - 20 miles to the start. Take the Cairngorm outer loop https://welovemount...

Sean Conway Ironman 102, but...

What an amazing achievement Sean Conway is trying to do 102 Ironmen in a row. 2.4-mile (3.9 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.2 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.2 km) run completed in that order, day after day for over 100 days. There is no way I could ever do any of this, or want to ride 112 ...

Re: South of Southport Bivi July 7th after Karl's talk

Where the bivi spot is, it's sandy, but only a short push from the gravel road that runs to the south.
Just follow the fat bike tyres.

Summitoppler and I are riding our Fat Bikes as we'll ride back to the start of our loop down the beach and through the sand dunes the morning afterwards.
