Re: Plea from a relative noob

Would you please use the full title of the route/race/meet in the thread subject line. WRT,HTR,CL300,HTTS etc are sometimes impenetrable. That's a good point, as we're all so used to talking about them we forget that not everyone reading is familiar with the shorthand. Not helped by the similarity ...

Sewms to have onw of our very own BBers at the bottom too... There's 9 BBers in the group shot at the start maybe more  Also, that's me and Alan G in the picture under the sign at Chris's house - I'm in my blue windproof and Alan has the rucksack on. I rode with Duncan for a bit on the first...

Thanks. Do I need to include my palmares to get a place of just say I'd like one?

Didn't want to just email and not get a place but equally sending a long list of the events I'm the singlespeed record holder on seems a bit big headed if not required

Re: CL300 - September Group Start?

I'm quite interested in this, assuming travel, accommodation etc. is back to normal. I don't really know much about the route so I have some questions;- Other than the Fords of Avon are there other crossings that might be impassable after prolonged/heavy rainfall? Obviously given how this year has p...

When I read "length of elastic" I immediately thought of it running around your face below your nose and above your top lip. That's not a bad idea, it would definitely stay in place as I move about. I could wear it on the ride there as an extra safety measure  Something like t...

Re: Do I need an Exposure (6 pack Race or Diablo)

All Exposure lights have the same maximum run time of 36 hours, the difference is the bigger the light the brighter the 36 hour setting will be. For bikepacking my personal opinion is that a Toro is the sweet spot for brightness/size/weight. Paired with a Joystick on the helmet for technical descent...

Re: Dales Divide: My Plan

Last year I only had 2 x 500ml bottles on the bike. It was very hot for the whole of the weekend. On the third day when supply points were further apart I also had up to 3 x 500ml bottles bought as I went along. If I did it again I'd still just take the 2 x 500ml bottles on the bike and take a 1 lit...

23 on the IOW, crikey. Are they all pillars or are some FBMs etc? They're all pillars. The Island is very up-and-down so they had to have a large number to be able to have enough coverage for surveying. They also show how the Island has changed since then. There is one in the middle of Brighstone F...

Fully legal, for the whole of the Island there is only 1 and that's right next to a road on Ventnor down. That's 1 out of 23 we have here. There's a couple where a short walk on a footpath will get you there.

I did something similar locally a while back, rode as close I could get to every one on the Island. Re: hydro drop bar brake levers, without a gear shifter?

I remember looking at them before, I never did manage to decode the SRAM info :???: It says Run as a set on single speed machines, or for the ultimate in 1x road, pair with a Force 11-speed shifter Which implies you can have 2 on a ss bike or just use the left on a 1x setup, but in the specification...

I've ridden most of the YD300 and all of the DD. The YD300 has more technical sections. Shaf, do the DD. Both routes are good but there was something special about starting on one side of the country, riding across to the other side and then back again. The section through the North York Moors was r...

Just can't think why I'd have a 5V+ out reading and with good cables still get no charge response from the devices. Gah.. electrics. If I can see what's going on I can usually fix it but electrics are a ghost hunt to me. I'm no expert but... it's current that charges stuff not the voltage, you migh...

It will be worth a fortune now. I was in a record shop in Leeds in the 90s and they had a copy of one of the early singles, might have been Alice, the price was over what I was earning in a week.
