Re: Navigation tips for glasses wearer

There are 2 types of Rain-X Rain-x Rain repellent - this goes on the outside of your glasses Rain-X Anti Fog - this goes on the inside of your glasses I used to use them on the windscreen of the racing car, made a big difference. Based on the amount I used on the car (3 seasons racing and never fini...

Re: Today's Run

Work and DIY commitments have eaten into my running (and riding) time quite a bit the last few weeks  Got out after work today, the car thermometer said 25 degrees when I left work, even if that was generous it was plenty hot enough. The heat, and the grass now being knee high for some of it, m...

Re: Do you carry a spare mech hanger when bikepacking?

I bought one for the Spearfish when I got the frame, it's a 2012 and didn't want for the hanger to be obsolete when (if) I needed one. As it's small and light (and very expensive) I have it with the spares I carry, no use if it's at home.

Obviously don't take one when I'm on the other bike

Re: Hedgehogs

I've not seen a hedgehog down here for years, and considering I see water voles semi regularly and even the occasional dormouse, both very rare nationality, then the hedgehog must be struggling.

Well done Tony, I've spent the weekend doing DIY  but your efforts lifted my spirits

^ this. They must be getting close now, Mart was about 10 miles out 1 hr 45 min ago. Trep's last ping was over 8 hours ago and I think she might be ahead of Mart? So might be very close or finished.

Are you referring to Dan Savage Sean?
One heck of trail runner.
That's the guy, and pretty handy on the road as well, I think he ran a 2hr 35min London the year I was working with him. I've not seen him in 20 years.

Re: HT550 2021

Hopefully they'll all finish today. Difficult to say where Trep is due to her tracking issues but I think she's ahead of Mart and he's nearly at Fort A so Trep should be between there and Tyndrum.

should be quick on the home straight.
The last section on the WHW is like riding on cobbles! It was so bad on a rigid MTB with 2.3 tyres I've now got a full sus for the next time I do it

Re: Diving down the dynamo rabbit hole

That caught my eye as well, SON have had a boost spaced hub for ages.

Bit of a risk taking a prototype hub, rims and frame on on an event as though as the HT550? Unless you're involved with the company and using it as a marketing opportunity

Do they still hold The Grizzly? Back in 2000/2001 I worked with a lad who had come 2nd twice, it sounded absolutely terrible back then... these days I'd be interested in running it, never thought I'd say that :o

I looks like he was going the wrong way and headed towards Rosehall and has now turned back?

Re: HT550 2021

I think Mike made it to 511 miles. That's a really tough break for him. That is really tough luck. "Only" 44 miles doesn't sound far after 511 but it's a big ride even if you start fresh and with a fully functioning ankle. It's not like saddle sores where you can just tough it out. Gutted for him a...

Re: HT550 2021

People didn't like the Coffin Road or the Postman's Path but I'd take them over the Ledmore any day.

At least with them you know when you'll be waking and when you'll be riding. On the Ledmore it looks like you can ride, you get on the bike and 20m later you're off again

Re: HT550 2021

Andrew and James finished overnight. Josh is on the home straight, I think he's got a chance of sub 4 days? It's much tougher to be further down the field, you're on the go for much much longer plus every night you spend out you don't get as good a rest as you would at home so the fatigue builds up....

Re: HT550 2021

The course has changed just about every year though, so I don't think Alan has a separate record for every course he's set, it's just tough luck? The same for most events, I had the SS record for the Dales Divide (I rode the first edition and was the only singlespeeder  ) but that's been beaten...
