Re: sleeping problems and cures ?

I listen to podcasts when I can’t sleep, I normally just need to be distracted from whatever is on my mind and is keeping me awake.

Re: Bluetooth headphones

What kind of phone is it? Most that don’t have a traditional 3.5 jack can be used with an adapter for the charge port.

The 5 quid decathlon bell has a really nice sustained tone

Just noticed the price of spur cycles one

Never ceases to amazes me what people seem prepared to pay for stuff.

Broken/cracked 3 rims and 1 hope hub, mangled 2 derailleurs, knackered 2 sets of cranks, smashed 2 pedals, bent a set of bars and the seat rails on 3 saddles.

Re: Deeside trail

Cheers - one option I've been looking at is starting in Braemar and heading west towards Lin of Dee, then heading north up Glen Derry and following the route up to fords of Avon (this is a chunk of the inner Cairngorms loop). Then heading east down Glen Avon toward Glen Builg and then south toward l...

Deeside trail

I've been looking at the Deeside trail for an upcoming weekend of leisurely bikepacking with a couple of mates. We only have a couple of days so I'm thinking of just doing the eastern loop, Braemar to Ballater and back - with the extension it's just over 70 miles. Anyone done this lately? We aren't ...

Re: A dilemma.....

I broke my Deore cranks - somehow the pinch bolts got slack and the splines on the axel/left hand crank must have got damaged as it will no longer stay clamped up.

Chainsaw isn't really the tool for casual vandalism, almost definitely targeted. Conflict with angling industry? http://www.llyn-brenig.co.uk/fishing Osprey eggs also used to be highly valued by collectors (although cutting down with a chainsaw seems a unlikely way to get an undamaged egg down from ...

Re: What bottom bracket do you use?

I've had an xt BB for the last 5 years on the full suss, must have done 6000 miles at least. This would be in all conditions as it's been my only bike for most of it.

Re: Pairing quilt with mat?

The Cumulus quilt I had didn't have clips, you had to 'lace' the quilt using the elastic cord they had provided, tried a few different ways and they were all a far cry from the simplicity of the EE method. https://www.outdoorline.sk/2462-thickbox_default_2x/cumulus-comforter-l500.jpg Looks like Cumu...

Re: Pairing quilt with mat?

I've also got an EE quilt and the strap design on them is simple and effective. They really do make a big difference on colder nights if you move about a lot. The EE is strap design is a massive improvement to the Cumulus quilt I had previously, it was way too much of a faff to get set up so I never...

Re: Recommend a softshell

Rab Kinetic Plus waterproof/softshell jacket - very impressed with it so far. It's lightweight, soft, stretchy, very breathable and pretty waterproof (with a waterproof measure of 10,000mm and breathability of 35,000cc/sqm/24hrs). - Perfect for changeable conditions. I originally got it for climbin...

Looks like reflex is just for the 4 MTB bar mount specific lights (race, torro, max-d & 6 pack) not the helmet lights such as Joystick/Axis/Diablo

Re: Bar light...probably again sorry!

That does sound like a useful feature but it’s not included with the Axis. It has ‘tap’ technology which when enabled allows you to tap the light to cycle through the 3 settings instead of pressing the button on the back.

Re: Bar light...probably again sorry!

I got an Exposure Axis at the beginning of the week and I’m sorry to say that I’m pretty underwhelmed. It’s a good bit behind the Moon 1300 Ive been using in terms of reach and spread. I’d thought that it would be similar in output given they are both claimed 1300 lumens, just with less burn time (d...

I use a Rab vapour rise jacket, keeps the wind off but is much more breathable than a standard softshell. I wear it pretty much all year round.

Re: The post man's been ...

Exposure Axis mk8 - got it discounted by £50 on CRC. initial beam test impressions are that it’s not nearly as bright as the Moon x-power 1300 it’s replacing (at double the price). Need to do a bit more testing to decide if it’s compactness is worth the extra expense.

The RAB alpine bivi is currently half price on SP - stated weight is 470g

this is the older ‘event’ version - the newer model is pertex shield and slightly lighter.
