Re: WTD: 29+ suspension forks

I have the exact fork you requested - if not sorted feel free to DM me.... I dont really use them but dont really want to sell them [ this is not a haggling technique and they would be at a good price as I got them new from the wiggle ebay store and think I paid £160 for them]. Wont have done more t...

Re: Viz top tip

I just find the "worse things happens" something you can always say, to anything, unless its as extreme as the two things I stated. I could have used the zombie apocalypse and thermonuclear war but doubt that would have met with universal approval/understanding either [ and the two I menti...

There are bigger issues in the world to be concerned with!
You can say that about anything that is not a war or genocide including everyone on here having all their bikes stolen.

Re: Viz top tip

this smacks of a woke exercise in re-branding I don't think calling a place in Wales by its( or a ) Welsh name rather than an English ( imperialist ?) one is woke unless you think England gets to name the world. I don't see what the problem is tbh. Apparently the English snowflakes don't seem to li...

Re: 41mm internal (rim) and a 2.4 inch tyre?

exactly as stated tyre started rubbing on one side and the knobbly bit and mud just wore through the chain stay Thankfully it creaked massively so it was spotted rather than snapped on me but you could flex the drive side chain stay and see the issue - the frame was retired -i would strongly advise ...

Re: Hebden to Edale part of PBW advice sought.

I did MTL in 8 hours as my first post covid ride-this was a serious mistake on my part and really, really hurt. I had nothing in the tank and consumed the entire groups supply of gels ! Strava says 6,500ft of climbing and 45.27miles [ couple of detours for nicer descents and a cafe so agree on two d...

Re: 41mm internal (rim) and a 2.4 inch tyre?

I have a 3 " tyre on 30 mm rim so yes the tyre will fit - how optimal or otherwise is the question- we should probably just swap rims   As for will the tyre come off- No idea as that is largely down to tyre and rim combo I would go with what they say as that frame is carbon, iirc, and...

Re: Who actually uses a guide book…?

Pre internet pretty sure we all did these days I just use the internet for the guides Following a pre defined route ,by someone who knows the area , just makes sense to me and is not what I call a hand rail IMHO its unwise for me , who barley knows the highlands, to plan a route for the gravel bike ...

Re: "Unison, Harmony or a System" - My ultimate bivi

Problem with a bivvy bag is how to get in, or out, when it's raining. IMHO it's not really a practical solution for UK weather
Glad it works for you John as clearly it's all personal choice

I took a down gilet to use as an extra footbox for sleeping. Game changer. I always thought a puffer jacket with zip off/velcro arms was the TLS solution and use the arms as socks - I lack the skills to make this happen as MYOG but can confirm i can get my legs in the arms of the jacket i would use...

All mine are in front* [ just], including the Jones but they have the longest stem, except the salsa spearfish which is a good 60-80 mm in front as a guess

Does this matter , no idea.

* I am in the process of servicing them all so they are all out, I had to look to know

Re: What you done t' your bike today

I don't like a spacer on top of the stem
Agree but it all depends how much steerer the stem pinch bolt has to clamp on to as I like that close to the end even less , especially if a carbon steerer that may crush.

Re: What you done t' your bike today

What they say as you need enough space above the end of the steerer to compress( without hitting the steerer) as it won't compress below this ( as the cap hits the steerer)

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Think I got three in in March [ as I also stayed on a boat and rode there on a bike]

Planning on a biggish bike ride some weekend if the weather holds and a local if not....also avoiding last minute.com again after the first two were last day of the month.
