Re: Pete & Reg's State Of The Nation Tour - Part 3

Indeed! It was the most glutinous, tacky, foul-smelling farmyard slurry I've ever encountered and we pushed through it for an hour  . I had to undress in the garden as my clothes stink of fetid canal :YMSICK: . And how can fields be so waterlogged? :o I'm so traumatised, it's driven me to cho...

Re: New member saying hello, and a question about camping

It's perfectly reasonable to be a bit afraid if you're still using 26" wheels. That will attract all sorts of weird looks   Welcome. Depending on your bivi site (e.g. local woodland) arriving really late and departing early can be a good option. Usually the only ones in "the wo...

Re: Jones goes electric

Good points Jameso re modularity / replaceability in ebike kits. I suspect people buying into Bosch or Shimano ebike systems will be ok for spares etc for the foreseeable. Less certain for niche systems with proprietary parts. I noticed that the Nano kits for Bromptons and other small wheelers allo...

Re: Todays ride

Anyone spot the weird bit of electric wire, randomly wrapped around the gate with no purpose? Had exposed wires and looked somehow menacing, which I guess might have been the purpose... Was it connected to anything? Or was it perhaps just an offcut that held a sign stating "Free cake this way....

Re: Jones goes electric

That seems to be an ad-hoc DIY modification that went too far :-O X_X . What on earth possessed him to: 1) fit a critical component (the motor) in such a vulnerable position on an MTB; 2) fit the battery in one of the main luggage areas (front triangle); 3) then completely redesign the frame to...

Re: Pete & Reg's State Of The Nation Tour - Part 2

I haven't commented on this or part 1 yet, but that's not because I haven't thoroughly enjoyed this, but more because I just don't know what to say. It sums up everything that's great about this place. It's almost enough to make one proud to be British, which is quite an achievement. Shucks. Thanks...

And we're only halfway through  . The photos show the abundance of fleece; but they miss the relentless, frigorific headwind that seemed to be with us for most of the ride (except for a 10-minute tailwind as we departed Marsworth). It was hard work. This was definitely the more affluent side of...

Re: Todays ride

C2WFH - Yup, basically it's just going for a ride before work (from home) . Before "Lockdown 1" the main reason for going into the office was for the C2W  . A week-or-so into lockdown 1 the evening rides were interfering with family time, so I started going out before work and ...
