Re: Cleaning a Sleeping Bag
I bought a bag from MD in 1998 and it's still going strong. When they wash a bag, iirc, they take out the down and remove any manky bits and replace them. They then wash the bag separately. I washed that bag myself and it it literally took hours in the tumble dryer and even then it require frequent ...

Re: Are you happy with your bar end shifters?
Having had the Fargo a year I'm used to them now, particularly once I'd got into the frame of mind that the clicks were a rough approximation rather than an exact representation of shifting (microshift w. Shimano 9-spd) A niggle, most apparent when loaded and solo (and I think I mentioned to you aft...

Just had a look at the frame, bolts go the other way than I thought, so (not for the first time) I'm talking bobbins. Wheelbase adjustment, isn't it?

Re: do I need them and what are they for? ?
Help with wheel placement/chain tension when SSing don't they? Unless they bugger with the gears I'd put them in as A) The threads in the frame might fill with cack & B) I'd lose them for she I did eventually need them. C) if you do smash up your gears mid-ride you might want an SS get you home ...

Re: The thread for everyone building a cross/gravel/monsterc
I think it's worth trying a taller stem so you can use the drops without scrunching up. I find my arms are positioned better for absorbing bumps and techy manouveres on the drops. I've also had the brake Levers come loose after a long bumpy ride on the hoods.

At the risk of stating the obvious....while no-one else is making them he can charge what he likes I guess. It might be less painful if he were making rather than getting them made in Taiwan (presumably?).

Re: Lets talk about CX tyres
I've got on alright with some 35c Vittorias. £35 a pair with tubes from On-One at a very muddy 2012 mayhem to use on my 29er, then moved onto the Fargo for road-biased rides with a bit of byway action. Have worn well and no punctures to date (thats done it....). :)

Re: computers / gps
Garmin edge 200 if you like a bike computer and only want speed/time/etc and some basic track following. Claimed 14hrs runtime, I've had a bit more from it. Around £80-90 or thereabouts. If you didn't want all of that a Garmin GPS watch is a bit cheaper. Mate has a Bryton which are generally cheaper...

Are you sure you want rack & 'guards fitted? My Fargo has and I binned the rack for soft luggage & the guards are replaced by mucky nuts fender benders.
