Re: Best / worst prezzie?

Happy to get an Alpkit stem cell and Krakan stove. My dear wife overlooked my request for A Pagan Place by the Waterboys. I requested it because I'm anticipating the lyrics being relevant to more than a few points on the HT550 route!

Re: Help compiling a list of 2016 ITTs with group starts

Nobody has mentioned Markus Stitz Capital Trail from Edinburgh. I believe there was a massed start around June 2015 and it is looks a fab route so hopefully it will happen as massed start in 2016 too?

Re: Cairngorm loop grp depart 2016

It's worth a whole post in itself as to which has the most severe rivers crossings: the HT or the CL? For me the CL is a very tough proposition with regards river crossings, especially that time of year as there can still be snow melt coming off the high mountains, which would affect the crossing at...

From Ian's comments this sounds like 350 miles not 350km?

Re: Alpkit pipedream 400

Alpkit 400 is quite an old model I think. Sure that's what I've got 6-7 yrs old. Weighs about 900g and packs fairly small. Have used in air temp as low as 2C in a bothy but wearing clothes in sleeping bag and was still on the limit of comfort. Probably would get uncomfortable to go much lower than 2...

Re: Recommend a carbon 29er frame

Chris Reeves, fascinating stuff with the Cube Reaction. I have one too and the stuck on OEM "protector" behind the chainrings on Drive chainstay fell off. I zipped tied a piece of rubber tube around the area but this wasn't totally satisfactory either. You're not commercialising your home ...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail route.

HI BoxEdlder - yes interested in a spot 3 to hire. waiting entry for Cairngorm Loop so could do with one for CG and then a month later HT.
Rather hire than buy outright.
Let me know

Re: 2016 Highland Trail route.

Taking the "hike" in hike a bike seriously - ordered some Shimano MT34 shoes. Look a lot more reliable around the laces than the more expensive (and flashier) MT 54. Could be a good choice if I got the size right to fit sealskinz. Any experience of these shoes?

Re: 2016 Highland Trail route.

Actually scrap that - The Struy seems to have gone even more upmarket and is now calling itself a Restaurant. It doesn't welcome kids, so it's unlikely the welcome the bigger, dirtier version known as the Mountain Biker!

Re: 2016 Highland Trail route.

Not sure anyone's mentioned the Struy Inn North East of Cannich. A quite posh pub that does food. (Fondly remembered from a more luxurious previous holiday  ) By the way Marshall, thanks for your questions - a lot of the answers are interesting to other people too! Pity this forum doesn't hav...

Spot tracker - borrow or buy?

Hi info please and apologies if this has been asked before - did try to search it on the forum. For events requiring SPOT is it possible to borrow a Spot, or are they uniquely logged into the owner's name and can't be changed to the borrower's? I notice gen2 go for around £50 on ebay, but it is stil...
