Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank

My USB meter arrived so I've tested the current draw of the eTrex. It only uses 80mA which is under the 120mA which is the minimum the Zendure requires to stay on so that confirms why it shuts down. I only really bought the A3 for charging my phone so not a big issue but something to be aware of if ...

Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank

I contacted Zendure and explained that the A3 will charge my phone but when plugged into my Garmin it automatically turns off. I received the response below Our A-Series power banks include an anti-drain technology which requires devices have a minimum power draw of 120 mAh to keep charging on. Plug...

Re: Another Dynamo hubs query

My Exposure branded SP (PD8X) has done over 2000 miles now and is fine. See the thread about ceramic bearings for how the rear hub and BB have done over the same period. It is the latest version which was a warranty replacement for the earlier type. I did worry that the front hub may have an issue a...

Re: CRC have stolen Stu's motto

I guess what makes it special for 'us' is that the 'eat' and 'sleep' parts are a key ingredient of the whole, not just a means to repeat the first bit? But I have seen it used with all sorts of activities in the past. The CRC banner just happened to catch my attention. The slogan on the back of my B...

Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank

Probably not much help now (and I don't know if the A3 model is any different to the A2 that Stu has). My A3 arrived, it's charged up, I've plugged in my Garmin. It's been on for 3 or 4 minutes and appears to be charging properly - all's good here. Out of interest, which Garmin? A Google search sho...

We used to be classed as UK mainland for most couriers ( I'm on the Isle of Wight) but that seems to have changed. I wouldn't mind if I had the scenery you guys have as compensation but I've just got muddy hills and we didn't even get any snow this year

Re: ITT Training in the South East

Hi, What is ITT training? As has been said, training for Independent Time Trials, some info on ITTs here http://selfsupporteduk.net/ Some have a group start and others are just a fixed route you can do anytime, as of course you can the ones with the group starts. Lot's of them are in 'the north' so...

Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank

I set my backlight to only turn on when I press the toggle and it only stays on for about 30 seconds but obviously battery life is shorter the more I check it. The screen is on all the time though. Just tried the Zendure with the Etrex, plugged it in and the plug symbol comes on the screen to show t...

Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank

I just carry spare batteries (and run off high capacity rechargeable ones which will last around 60 hours) The battery pack would only be for backup if I run out of batteries. Interesting that you get 60 hours from rechargeables, I don't think I get that from the lithiums I use. Is this in an etrex...

Re: Ceramic Bearings

It looks like I'll just be changing the bearings as required. I'd hoped ceramic might be some wonder cure but given the current local trail conditions it don't think they'd make a difference. Hopefully it will eventually dry out. There is a 'dry' line on some of the climbs now. When I say 'dry' I me...

Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank

Shoot me down if I am wrong but you cant charge etrex batteries in situ. I carry a usb charging pack that takes AA & AAA (SPOT) batteries which I plug into the power bank. Prepared to be wrong on this but that is my understanding. You're right, perhaps I worded my use badly. It is not to charge...

Re: Zendure A3 Power Bank

The fact the Edge 500 turned off rather than remained charging might be a particularity of the 500 as it works differently to the others when charging (cant be charged and used at the same time) but it does stay on the charging screen when plugged into a mains charger. I would think the Etrex uses m...

Zendure A3 Power Bank

I now have my Zendure A3 Power Bank and as I'd just got in from a ride when I opened the package I tried it with the first thing that came to hand, my Garmin Edge 500. I plugged it in and it started charging  but, when I came back to it after a couple of minutes it had stopped charging and th...

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll stick with normal then. A google search shows I can buy a top spec ceramic bearing for £60 a side :o The genuine Hope stainless ones are only £17 each. As for the hubs, I think I'll try the CRC own brand (sorry Jameso) and see how they last, at £2.99 for a hu...

Ceramic Bearings

I seem to be changing my hub an BB bearings on a regular basis these days. I think I changed the rear hub bearings just after the BB200 and last night I had to fit new bearings to the rear hub again and swap the free-hub off another bike, I couldn't be bothered to change the bearings in that in the ...

Re: First Dynamo wheel build help!

Early fatbikes used standard 135mm hubs. The seatstays/chainstays had a 35mm offset, so the rim needed a similar offset. Forks were similarly offset. With the advent of 170 and 190mm hubs, this is no longer required, though one can still buy offset frames and forks. To confuse things even further, ...

One thing that hasn't been answered yet is if will the wheel need dish in it with it being a disc or is it a case of seeing when you put it in the frame? I guess I could measure off the current non-dyno wheel in there but not being g a dyno hub I assume it will be different? /pedant mode/ Bicycle w...

I hate reading these MYOG threads as it just highlights how crap I am, and how much I rely on what others can make. It is just practice. I would suggest you start with fabric which is easier to work with to begin with. My favourite is VX21, the stuff they make frame bags and the like out of. It's e...
