Re: 2023 BB200/300 weights thread

Just weighed it, 1.7kg of food. That's enough to get me round without stopping, unless something goes horribly wrong.

Re: BB200 2023

That sounds bloody horrendous! It took me a couple of hours, but I did seriously regret my life choices. Had to do a lot of it standing up too, because unsurprisingly weighted vests aren't really made for riding in. I'm out with a DNS already. Lower back pain causing me to move about like a sloth f...

Re: BB200 2023

Given water isn't calories, it's definitely not cheating. In fact, if you want to actually be able to burn your fat stores effectively, you definitely need water. I appreciate you have different requirements on that front though. From memory, my longest fastest ride was 11 hours, wearing a 15kg weig...

Even the raciest racing snake could easily pull 10,000kcal from their fat stores. Though they probably wouldn't enjoy the experience (nor the speed).

Possibly. That said, I do a ton of fasted training and I rarely eat for the last couple of hours anyway as I usually can't face it.

Very good at just dropping my HR and going on fat reserves.

Re: BB200 2023

Riderdown: I calculated 1,200gms of carbs (for 20 hours moving) and taking 1,000 gms to get me to the stop about 3/4 of the way round. Plus emergency rations. About 800 for me. I'm sick of carrying too much and getting to the end with like 750g of food. Almost always grab a snack at a shop anyway w...

Re: The post man's been ...

I don't know what's going on with my Evans order. A few pairs arrived but heard nothing on them on the remaining ones.

Also, ordered a new chain for the BB200 (and in plenty of time, amazingly)... it appears to have gone missing. Can't win.

Re: 2023 BB200/300 weights thread

I was think about only having stuff for fixing punctures, allen keys for the bolts on the bike a leatherman for everything else, spare chain quick links, a hanger, a pump, tube, spare pair of pads and a spare gear cable. Yeah, that's a sensible setup. I don't carry a gear cable any more simply beca...

Half an hour would probably do me, so I guess I'll aim to get there for 7am and tweak the bike for a bit.

Re: BB200 2023

Balls, was reminded today that the start time for the 200 is 08:00. I'm going to be cutting it really close on some of the shops I wanted to get to. I think I'm going to have to go out at a much harder pace than I had originally intended. I usually start late (and hungover), but I guess not this year!

I think other than what I'm wearing it'll be the usual lightweight puffy and a bin liner style waterproof (which usually ends up as a windstopper of sorts).

500g for your tools is not going to make a meaningful difference to your finish time. I always go out with a fairly decent range of parts.

Re: 2023 BB200/300 weights thread

I'm pretty certain I'll have at least a couple of kg of food. It's always my heaviest bit of my luggage aside from water (2.5 litres).

I'll probably eat something from a shop / takeaway, but I like to start with basically enough to get me around.

It's prearranged and we kind of know that's not really within the spirit of these things and would possibly get you a DNF somewhere else. I suppose inging up when you're an hour away and begging / pleading for them to remain open, would perhaps be a different matter? I've seen people in "very ...

@Rich on the Bearbones when you and your other half opened the tuck shop. Roughly at what milage was that on the route pls? Been a while, but I think it might have been something like 110-120km. Thing is, it's not so much about distance as it is about what terrain is in that distance. I've had 20km...
