Re: Bivvy a month 2014 thread.

June bivi was a botch/fail. Yeah I camped out. Missed the planned solstice ride due to fun police intervention. On a working holiday in france the following week. Decided to bivi at a fave spot. Weather turned bad, realised I had not done a road test on the new tarp. I set it up in the garden (event...

Re: Commute by bike, How far, how often

My place of work is 12.7 miles away. It is about 200 metres higher than where I live with a two or three minor ups and downs in between. I have a choice of off road or on road routes. I ride to work 4 days a week all year round. Been hit by two cars, crashed on black ice, been half drowned in the wi...

Re: SDW in a day - average times

Hmm reckon it would take 11 hrs.
Much easier with a tail wind.
I think it would take me between 11 and 14 hrs.
Never done it all in one lump.
Have done eastbourne to qe park.
And numerous other sections.
The hills are a lot bigger at the eastbourne end.

commuter crash

Hi Yesterday I was knocked off my bike whilst travelling to work. A car pulled out in front me at a crossroads and I piled into the passenger side. I have a painfully bruised thigh and a few stiff joints but nothing broken. The bike needs a new brake/lever and the mech hanger straightening out. Can ...

Why are gas clouds always "the size of Nebraska" in movies?
Maybe its like using Wales or Switzerland as an approximate unit of measurement.
Anyway. yes it does happen to me. See above. You have been warned.

How about a partial frame bag?
Wish that is what I had gone for.
Or, how about relocating your bottle cage with a monkii clip?
Sure as eggs is eggs, if you strap a bag to your back you will carry more stuff and get a sweaty back to boot.
Just sayin.

I thought Doggers were a myth like Narwhals or Roller-Cam brakes.
It disturbs me to discover they are real.
I suppose that they were more scared of you than you of them.

Bees/wasps entering clothing and Stinging you. Ow f**k f**k f**k. New shrub/tree growth getting jammed in the small gaps between the spokes near the hub flange and winding round and round, steadily winching you into the undergrowth where you will ultimately cause hilarity to all of those around you....

The stem that I fitted to the GT peace was an "aber hallo".
Hideous but useful In setting up a workable position on a bike that was a bit on the longside for me with the midge bars.

Gone but not forgotten.

I sold this bike.
why did I do it?
I really miss it.
I know it's an underbraked frankenmunter but it was fun.
Sold it to build up an OO456 ti which broke.
(Don't get me started).
Oh well...
Anybody pining for an old bike? Or maybe lusting after a new one?...............

So, what about the saddle?
I would go for a charge spoon or, maybe a scoop.
If money were no obstacle, I might try a brooks cambium.

hi
I use this as a year round commuter jacket.
yes it is outside of your budget but will last years and years and years.
Tough but not too heavy.
roomy sleeves and cuffs, long back.
not too dorky off the bike either.

I have downloaded bits and pieces from radio 4 library. In our time (mainly just the science ones) Also, quite enjoyed Short Cuts. There's a few of those. Some audiobooks might be worth a go.
