Re: Honey, I smoked the discs!
Expensive upgrade, but if using SRAM or Shimano drop bar set up, i cannot recommend Hope RX4 callipers enough, so much more modulation and 4 piston calliper. I'm fairly heavy and with a fully loaded bike i can easily cook Shimano brakes even when i am trying to stay off the brakes as much as possib...

Re: Flat bar conversion
Alternatively what about one of the extra wide dropbars? I’ve a curve walmer bar on my Fargo, it’s 55cm at the hoods and 70cm total. Coupled with a shorter stem I think it surprised a few people in the lakes. They even do one at 60/75cm.

Re: Is there any hassle free way to travel from London to Scotland by public transport?
The sleeper can be quite reasonable, I looked a while back and you could book a reclining seat for £74 each way to Inverness. When I did my Jogle I got a courier to deliver my bike at a specific time and the flew from Birmingham international to Wick, and it was still cheaper than the standard train...

Re: Leeds to london on canal path?
I’ve ridden from congleton (north of Stoke-on-trent) to Stratford. Some sections are great with compact gravel and fast as the road others much slower, grass with some deep pot holes where the bank has eroded. One of the frustrating things is the amount of gates on some sections, I ended up having t...

RE rescue. I'm pretty sure we've all done something at some point that we deem to be 'safe enough', yet others might view the exact same activity as risky or even dangerous ... who gets to decide? My worst injury was a severely broken elbow, two months off work. I was riding like a knob end. There’...

Re: Saddle for all day comfort
I've got a Fizik Aliante up on Classifieds if its of any interest to you. I bought a carbon railed one of those, mainly because it was light. Turned out to be very comfy after my arse got used to it 80-90 miles no worries. My all time favourite has to be the brooks B17, once broken in you just don’...

Stu, could you do me a favour and measure the gap between the bar mounts. While I’m currently fitting my gear in that accessory pouch and a little 5ltr seat pack I’ve got something planned where I might need a little more room.

I’m afraid I’m out, my parents asked me to look after their lurcher, after the year they have had (Mother in intensive care for six weeks during lockdown) I couldn’t deny them their first weekend away in two years. As a bonus I get to play with a very large Woolf hound lurcher so fun will still be h...

I also took delivery of a new Hope disk and an internal blind bearing puller set . It’s the type of tool which makes me happy. Insert into bearing, tighten the nut to expand the collet then the slide hammer removes the bearing in a most satisfying way. I also picked up a 1950’s Aermaster fan, bloody...

Well I didn’t ride anywhere in the first three months, but since then I’ve ridden over 1000 miles, Tim’s superb spring thing, WRT, Cannock Chase with fellow boners, Jennride with Burty, Wotsits?, Benp1 and Tom. This weekend I’m at the Woods Grand Rando :-bd I’ve also done a lot of veloviewer explore...
