Re: Hydration vest for bikepacking

I use a vest style pack with bladder in colder months on local rides where it’s cold enough that taking the edge of the chilly water is desirable and there’s enough sheep/cow/buffalo/human hit and miss etc in the water courses for me to take a hard pass thanks. I’ll also use a bladder in a frame bag...

Are you able to describe the sizing differences between the two?

I’m half tempted by a Son Rear light, is the much to be said for upgrading from a B&M Secula? I have the later its very bright light in use ,does not dim when stopped at lights and bright enough for everyday use Mines is on the seatstay and tha son is going to have to be smething trully special...

Right then, that’s everything sorted bar possibly the rear light.

I can confirm the Tranny is taxed, insured, and has a valid MOT. There was an incident with a digger which rearranged some minor cosmetic elements. It’ll buff out I’m sure. The oil drum ‘scrap heap challenge thingy’ if your curious, is actually part of a temporary gate to go on an undeveloped const...

Re: Van recommendations

I always think when I see a VW van - "to all viewers, this van is full of expensive outdoor gear, please break in and nick it" Whereas a slight beat up Ducato (for example) is more likely to be over looked... I think similar things with any generic white van, but swap “outdoor gear” for “...

Dynamo Light of choice - fork mounted gravel use mid range

So, I picked up a new rim this week to replace my a bit too narrow rim currently laced to my Dynamo hub. And it’s got me thinking about replacing my light with something a bit fancier. Duties are commuting/winter training rides road/gravel/mud bath. Top-end is off the cards, and my current cheap (£5...

New wheels and tyres (2.6) just fitted. Looks like I can 2.8s into this frame if the itch starts, which as I’ve thought about it seems inevitable. https://i.postimg.cc/mr3k1Zj1/A4-CB2-F4-C-3714-448-C-BE8-D-FEA28-BB29734.jpg New 11s chain too. even found the sale in their archives If you ever encounter a business (exc very very small outfits) that can’t do this more or less instantly I’d run a mile. They should be able to access all your transactions for at least as long as they’re legally obliged to by HMRC which is quite a bit longer t...

It’s worth upgrading the rear just for a clutch mechanism if you don’t have it already

Banbury bivvy spots

Yes I know, just look at a ******* map, but my brain is fried.

Anyone care to share just drop me a PM.

Obviously not People’s Park, but somewhere I’m not likely too get pissed on by a passing drunk well away from any habitation. I’m just sort of in the area rather than in Banbury itself.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a “bargain” in a Tiso!

Kind of a weird shop for me, I’ll occasionally stop for a mooch around the Perth store but never actually seem to find anything I want. It’s always ‘not quite what I’m after’ even though there should be loads of stuff in there.

Pogies and gloves.

Hang on, I started looking for 1 pair of boots and 1 pair of gloves and I’m heading for 2 of each. This is why I never have any money isn’t it.

*backed up by some incoming 29er wheels, I already have 29er wheels, same for 650b, 2 pairs of those.

I think the XM900, Vaudes are front runners, if I’m feeling flush and they’re available the Five Tens as a transition season boot.

Re: Winter boots and gloves

Pogies, I think the issue I’ll have with those is regularly swapping between two different MTBs and a drop bar bike. It really is seconds swapping my Hotpogs over (might be moot as they're not making any at the moment). All the drop-bar equivalents seem to limit riding to on the hoods only. Pogies ...

Really what I’m after is a waterproof/insulated ankle heigh pair of Five Tens with enough tread for the odd muddy/icy path.
Weren't Adidas doing something in conjunction with 5/10?
I think they don’t currently make a waterproof option in either mid or high top.
