Wanted - cheap down sleeping bag

Hi, I am looking for a cheap down sleeping bag for a friend who is going travelling shortly. He is a fit young lad who will be going backpacking, so weight and bulk isn't too much of an issue, though something not too much more than a kilo would be good. He doesn't plan on going to anywhere too chil...

Colorado trail race

Joe and I have been following the Colorado trail, cheering on Lee Craigie as she narrows the gap to Alexandera Houchin. AH has been shown as stopped in a strange place for four hours now. Has anyone heard what's going on? Dunno if she has scratched or just has a dead spot tracker.... http://tracklea...

Re: Tents pots frames odds n ends FOR SALE

I think most folk here use PayPal to accept payments. If the person sending the cash marks is as a payment to friends and family then you don't have to pay a fee.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Thanks for posting Borderer. Looks a great place. I'll let Fraser see your report. Think we'll be heading there soon...once the water levels go down. I know it's been raining a fair bit this week, but I don't think it would be a problem. The water level for the crossing to the bothy was very low wh...

To be fair it is confusing in the way that it is written. I scratched my head and had to read it a few times when I first saw it.
But yeah, no free rides. One a month and no excuses.

Re: Memories are made of this ....

On our C2C Spain trip I accidentally sent us across the Picos Europa mountain range. Had I done my research properly I would never have chosen this as taking a child with laden bikes across mountain passes seems like the height of folly, but it turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences ...

Re: Interesting piece about hypothermia and preparation

I guess I was interested in the original article because I really struggled when we were in the US recently. I didn't get hypothermic or anything but I felt very rubbish and had to stop early for the day a couple of times because I couldn't stop shivering. I had got cold and wet and just couldn't wa...

Interesting piece about hypothermia and preparation

This article is from 2013, so apologies if you have read it already, but I thought it was interesting. George Monbiot talks about his brush with hypothermia. Stands as a cautionary tale against going out poorly prepared too. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/dec/30/hypothermia-exmoor-bi...

Re: Flying from Heathrow with bike, parking options /opinions

We parked at our friend's place in Sutton and took the absurdly cheap x26 bus to Heathrow. I think it was £1.50 for an adult and a child. They weren't thrilled about our bikes as they were blocking the wheelchair bit, but I said I would move them straight away if anyone needed the space, which they ...

Yep, a bit of a disappointing end, but good to see a win for Bernal.

Woods came 32nd, assuming all standings are honoured tomorrow.

Yep - stage stopped prematurely by hail :o
Bernal has taken yellow by 7 seconds. A pretty crappy way for Alaphillipe to lose the lead.
