Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Thanks both! I was bus stop and abandoned outbuilding curious in a previous incarnation as an audaxer. Turns out I prefer tents.

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Ticked off February with my boy. Not nearly as cold as January, but still a bit of frost about by the morning. We opted for bivvy bags this time (horrible thought - does using a tent render one ineligible for bam? If so, that's January fooked and we've fallen at the first hurdle...). Pip and I heade...

Re: Protein Suggestions

I use myprotein vanilla cos it's pretty cheap if you buy the huge bags. 2 scoops (65g) and 350ml almond milk is very drinkable and gives you 53g protein for 300 cals.

Btw, I am so grateful for this forum - time and again I've tried a fruitless Google and come back here to get the answer I needed! I should probably cut out the middle man.

Re: SRAM and Shimano grx compatibility

Thanks both, that's very encouraging. What shifters are you using with the 10 speed SRAM MTB rear mech Lazarus? I've already got a long cage rival rear mech - would a SRAM MTB rear allow me to use a wider range cassette? And presumably a 10 speed can only be used with 10 speed brifters?

Re: Hyrox/Spartan

I went and watched my brother do one in Sussex last year. Looked quite good fun, if a little corporate. There was a really good range of challenges and the emphasis seemed very much to be on completion rather than focusing on the pointy end.

SRAM and Shimano grx compatibility

I'm trying to upgrade my weary gravel bike from existing SRAM 1x11 to 2x11 to make it a bit more suitable for the longer (up to 1200k) audax road rides I have planned. I'd considered staying pretty much as is (10-42 cassette) and sticking a 42 or 44 chainring on the front, but changing to one of the...

Mine has the logo (literally) writ large, but I'm sure it's negotiable. The person at the other end was very keen to get it right, so I can't imagine they'd insist on it

Re: FS: Schwalbe G-One Ultrabite 27.5 x 2.0 - Pair

Interested in these if they haven't already gone. Did they come up very wide? I've run maxxis ardent 2.0 tyres on reasonably narrow rims (21mm ID from memory) and got away with them, so I'm hoping these would be ok.

I used bike-bag.co.uk. I ended up with an excellent cordura full frame bag with loads of tweaks and personalisations and it came out at just over 100 quid all in.

BAM virgin here, but first night ticked off. A very short (5 mile) post work bimble down into friston forest. Found a nice flat area of leaf litter (top of cardiac hill if there are any locals) and spent a very pleasant night under si-nylon with my 14yo. I'm hoping he'll attempt the full year with m...

A guy I know locally got the whole micro shift drive train in the Black Friday sale super cheap and rates it on his fat bike. Re: Nutritional Sups/Meals During a Long Distance Event

Like others, I'm not a massive fan of gels and powders etc, but I did the south downs way double last year and needed to pack as much punch as possible into what I was carrying. I basically lived off flapjack, water and some fancy sis beta fuel. The latter is quite a tough thing to force down, but i...

Wanted - exposure joystick or similar NOW SORTED

My joystick has just succumbed to the relentless weather and, while I'll ask USE for a price to refurb it, I could really do with one in the interim for the commute. Anyone got a joystick or one of the other exposure helmet mounted lights you're looking to move on?
