For those who haven't seen/read it see The Case for Working with Your Hands: Or Why Office Work is Bad for Us and Fixing Things Feels Good. If I remember he had a masters degree. Lasted six months in an office before going off to fix Harleys. I did a 4 year apprenticeship as a toolmaker but finishe...

Considering it's designed to filled with water and hung as a shower I'd say it's plenty resilient enough to use a pillow.

Electric socks? There is plenty of stuff out there at all price points, just a matter of reading reviews to see what's good.

I'm half tempted to drive up and get a BBQ going somewhere between Knighton and the finish. There'll be a good supply of hot dogs and burgers with and chips and beer,.

Re: Chinese titanium design-it-yourself Bikepacking bike any

Wifey's winter road bike is from XACD, I know of a few other people riding their frames too. No reported problems with the road stuff, I don't know anyone riding one of their MTB frames but I'm sure Google will through up some results.

My old Fireblade with carbs loves it. It runs a lot cleaner and does more mpg, I've never been able to tell the difference in a car.

Re: Disc HELP!

170mm is an unusual size, I think it's only Avid that make it. I think your choice is either use a 160mm adaptor and pop a 5mm spacer under the caliper or change the disc for a 160/180.

Had some time to kill in London today so wandered down to Condor's. Wandered out with some new disco slippers and a considerably lighter wallet.

I've been using an Enlightened Equipment all year, in both a tent and bivi bag. I've not yet needed to strap it to my sleeping mat. Looking at the comforter above, one the things which has been good about the Enlightened Equipment is that it opens out into a big down blanket which is great for dryin...

He's put time and effort into that and it sounds like it'll be an ongoing thing. Making films is how he makes a living so I don't have a problem with the price, and as he says, it could save people money not making (too many) kit mistakes. Looks like a good idea.

Moots have been doing that softail thing for years, stick some bags on it and call it an adventure bike. Really? If you've never seen a Moots they're lovely, there is something about them elevates them above every Ti frame I've ever seen. One day I will own one. It will be a road frame with the matc...

One of the hardest rides I've ever done was a 50 miler around sun baked, horse hoofed bridleways around Bassingbourne, very flat Cambridgeshire countryside. The Tour of the Cornfields, it was the first race of the CX season so I took my CX bike. I should have taken a full suspension mountain bike.

Re: Thoughts on the Great Divide North Bound

Thanks for the replies chaps. I know an early start is potentially a bit dicey but no harm in getting some opinions from those that have been there. Wifey wants to do some some stuff later in the summer, hence contemplating an early start. For some reason she doesn't want to ride in the US although ...
