There's something about barn owls and blue lights at night. I killed another last night on a fast run. Nothing I could do, it swung across me and you can't lock up when the back is full of unsecured Drs working on a patient.
It's such a shame and quite upsetting.

MYOG Underquilt for DD hammock
It's been a lucky day. I blatantly copied another forum user who used an Alpkit Cloud Cover quilt to go under his DD hammock. With a bit of reading I decided to start off sewing channels on both sides and added elastic cord. The quilt fits perfectly between the hoop attachments and by drawing the en...

Re: Spain GR247
Great info. Much appreciated. I'll be making shade and resting up in the hammock during the hot hours. I'm a big guy from Scotland, we don't like the heat! I may not complete the route with my lack of experience but it won't ruin the adventure.
Thanks again.

Re: The post man's been ...
I'm going to sew some tabs along the sides that'll allow me to stretch some thin bungee lengthwise. This will let me slide it up and down as well as keeping the edges tight against the hammock. It's going to save a few hundred grams and a lot of bulk from my pack. Great idea. I am going to blatantl...

I think like a lot of folk I saw Apidura bags being used on some of the bikepacking films I watched. 'if it's good enough for them....' thinking.
Good marketing I suppose.

Re: Mull
I work on Mull pretty regularly. There's lots of place I'd love to get the bike to but I'm always on call when on the island these days. In earlier times I've enjoyed bombing around Ulva and across to Gometra. There's good paths to explore, a cafe and the island is currently under an attempt to be b...
