Re: Weight Weenie Bike Thread....
:geek: I really like the el mariachi and the way it rides, but its the heaviest frame I've ever ridden. If that is the case, you sir have been spoilt. I think back to the +35lb DH bikes that I used to ride around... My 1st MTB, a 10 speed Free Spirit with the combo bars & stem weighed 45lbs. St...

Shimano M395 Hydro disc brakes F & R set (no discs or mounts) 1000mm front & 1400mm rear hoses.
£37.50 from Merlin.
Obviously not the jazziest brake set out there but for the money it's running close the buying of a spare set of OEM pads, fluid and a bleed kit for my Elixir 1's......

I've never had much luck reproofing anything but I've never had bogies over everything either. Bogies on my kit after using Nikwax!
After the mega-deluge earlier in the week I decided I should reproof my Altura kit. So.... 1. Washing machine cleaner and descaler and rinse 2. Nikwax tech wash, only 2 garments, washed as per tags 3. Nikwax TX wash in, 100ml per garment Removed my jacket and trousers this morning to hang them out a...

Speaking as someone slightly biased ;) ... Trangias do work but they're heavy and bulky, the burner alone weighs 120g and the Mini Trangia set's 330g. Once you get into the bigger sets you're looking at 750+g even for the "ultralite" versions  The basic principle of the Trangia isn...

Same here. Have used superstar's normal hubs without issue and a mate has the SStar SS specific hubs, again no hassles. My inbred has the wheelset from a 'dale SS which has a formula hub with the dinky freehub on it.

The postie has just dropped off Rouleur which I get now as privateer has finished. It's doubly annoying as the package won't fit through the letter box and Rouleur is about as interesting a read as the yellow pages.

Might also be worth considering the gearing? The Fargo 2 is a 2x10 whereas the El Mar is a 3x10? Theres also the suspension and braze on aspect. I don't miss suspension since having the Fargo but I'm not bashing down rocky outcrops much here in Suffolk so the occasional Welsh battering is fine. I us...

Okay stupid question x2 1) Does the slime slosh about the inside of a tubeless tyre? 2) Do I need special tyres etc?
