Re: Wales "Firebreak" Lockdown

Not many cars on the road up here. The weather is also making people stay away. Me and the Mrs went out for our 'last supper' on Thursday night. Its going to be a grim couple of weeks. Luckily I can venture into the hills from the front door...

Re: Do you still cycle tour "traditionally"?

I doubt I ever will as I sold my panniers and rack a few months back. They served me well but the handling of bikepacking bags on the bike is in a different league. Panniers are lethal :o

Re: The Slippery Peak of the Witch (VIDEO)

Thanks all :-bd Jaysus wept Jeff, reading your reports is incredibly annoying - you're just having way too much fun in fantastic surroundings. Harumph. As scenic as this was in fine weather, it really was a tough slog. Not to mention the faffing going back and forth for the camera! It is a fi...

Re: the toughest road climb in the uk is.......... ?

I was backpacking in the Carneddau at the weekend, and I parked near Llyn Eigiau. I drove up the Tal y Bont road up to Llyn Eigiau and vowed to myself never to go near it on my bike. I probably will at some point though. Eigiau is my stomping ground, love it there. Yep the road is a tough climb esp...

From the front day today. Up Conwy mtn and onto Tal y Fan. Loads of walkers and plenty of folk on e-bikes too, they make these hills look so easy! Re: the toughest road climb in the uk is.......... ?

Llyn Cowlyd is tough and there are a few really tough climbs around there. Not sure exactly which way up people mean, but either from Talybont/Castell or from Trefriw. They are pretty steep!........ To throw a spanner in the works.... On the OS map the Trefriw road has 3 of those dreaded black arro...

Re: the toughest road climb in the uk is.......... ?

The Panceltic team, based in North Wales, were musing about the Rowan climb being the toughest in the UK and they’ve done the Llyn Cowlyd climb several times......... Where's this Rowan climb? My mistake, Rowen, the climb up the the YHA. It’s about 5 miles south of Conwy - I’ve done it loaded up on...

The road to Llyn Cowlyd from Trefriw. Just 2km but  Seconded, although Strava has it at 3km. Either way, it's on the home turf of ex hill climb champion Dan Evans so it must be good... Only a few miles from me, I get tired driving up it!! A tough one and Dan can make any climb look easy!

Toppled the summit of Y Ro Wen today. It's been on the to do list for a while now but I knew it would be a killer climb. I followed the double track from Dolwyddelan which was tough from the start. The views though were worth the effort, not sure I'd want to ride a loaded bike up there though but we...

A pedal around Gwydyr forest with the odd bit of the Marin singletrack thrown in for good measure.
