Re: Anyone any experience of 'non shocker' version of USE/Ultimate seatposts?
They sometimes have some keenly priced posts on the Outlet page of the USE/Exposure website. I'm running a 27.2 Sumo on the singlespeed and it's definitely a more comfy ride that the Thompson I had on before. It is possible to decrease weight as the diameter goes up as stiffness for the same wall th...

A pair of Carbon Bonty wheels from Escape Goat.
Now should I hunt around for the XD driver or just get a Sunrace cassette and 'only' have a 11t bottom sprocket?
Also new disc rotors are needed....so could use as an excuse to replace the Shimano brakes I don't really get on with...

Rear Light recommendations
Lost my rear light at the weekend, was clipped over the straps of my Wildcat seat harness and looking for something to replace it - any recommendations? Would like to mount it on the straps as before, ideally USB chargeable. Old one was a Leyzne unit that a strap/hem clip plus the rubber frame strap...

I've just replotted the route starting from Winchester, looks like there are a fair number of lanes involved on the route, chucking the route in Komoot suggests: Natural: 59.0 km Unpaved: 103 km Gravel: 24.1 km Paved: 51.8 km Asphalt: 106 km Unknown: 10.9 km Winchester to Salisbury - is mostly lanes...

How about a short version of Stu’s Carbon Wotnots?
Might need a thicker line to stop cutting through the webbing?

How about something like this:

Edit:
....... ah didn’t read the ‘unhook’ bit..... though these have always stayed secure for me when under tension
Maybe these?

Re: who rides Ti ?
Despite the ‘risks’ I’m considering a Walty to replace the El Mariachi (think I need a bit more top tube length) - need to find a new job first, then I can ‘reward’ myself! I ordered my Burls after having a steel El Mariachi and then blanching at the cost of a Ti one. It was very heavily based on t...

Re: who rides Ti ?
Titanium is a bit of a tricky material. It could be said that it is a notch sensitive material, whereby sharp geometry changes, so poorly finished mitre, a badly cut hole or an inclusion (impurity) in the material can cause stress concentrations that wouldn’t be seen in steel or Alu, which could pro...

Re: who rides Ti ?
Do the scratches from frame bags polish out? I nearly cried when I removed my bags off my new Broken Road after a week in the Gorms I have the opposite problem with my ti salsa, the frame has a brushed/matt finish and the straps from my frame bag polish the ti. I've heard that non-stick scouring pa...

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Pedals great - new handling not happy  Is it your first time with a H bar? My first rides with mine they felt terrible and I wondered what I'd spent all that money for. I stuck with it and after a few rides it just clicked. Bar with this much sweep, yes. Don’t think the bars are the issue, it’...

Some changes and an upgrade to the El Mariachi. Carbon forks, 29+ wheel and H-bar clones for the front. Shiney new XT SPD’s to replace the old Deore’s that where rattling on their axles! Pedals great - new handling not happy  https://i.postimg.cc/NFf7388w/84079641-0367-402-A-9380-CB7-BA...

Re: Possibly a catastrophe. Advice needed please.
A bit difficult to determine from a photo, but my initial thoughts are the frame is ok and the hanger has done it’s job. Have a poke around the frame around the dropout, look for any obvious cracking. Try and move it around by hand, should feel nice and solid - flex along the length of the seat stay...

Re: Durability of BOA Laces
The Boa in my 5:10's is a plastic coated wire.
3 or 4 years old now and lasting pretty well, despite the plastic coating splitting.
No sure I'd get shoes with a full length single Boa again, getting the tension right across the shoes take a while with a number of re-adjustments.

Sorry, maybe is should call Rich out So directly? If the choice was to do a big adventure in the UK, that would be a best of luck enjoy. I think it’s the (to me) seemingly unnecessary travel. Though I do have to admit that I’m being a bit hypocritical as we (Helen & I) went to Canada early March...

I learnt this one the hard way at work.... My new rule. Measuring bearing then order off size. Not the code on the seal :-bd Being an engineer I should really have known better l-) Though I do find the mis-numbered seals a bit weird as that numbered seal doesn't fit between the two races, it's too ...

S*dding bearings
A mini poorly conducted rant.... Trashed the front wheel bearings on the road bike during last Beercycle Club BAM (Brewery-a-Month) ride, which was done in rather damp conditions amid storm Dennis. Only having ridden it recently whilst hidding inside on Zwift, thought I'd replace the bearings in the...
