'Pillow' - and now of course Peter you'll have the additional hours of pleasure and entertainment contemplating the myriad-ways-of-stopping-pillow-sliding-off-mat conundrum. My current favoured method is zip up my fleece , slide pillow inside up to the neckhole, then slide all that down over the ma...

Re: What summer quilt for the fairly tall?

I'm 6'1" and I'd say my Cumulus is just too small.

I've got a Sea to Summit summer bag (Spark SP1) and it's very acommodating in terms of length. It's also great. :-bd As you mentioned though, not cheap and a customs sting to go with it.

I've got the Rab solo for putting in mine - just to sheet out the half where my bivvy isn't, if that makes sense.

That ^^ is a lovely little bitch. :-bd

I've been introduced to a butty shop in Heald Green that does the nicest omelettes I've had in a long, long time.

Going to Heaton Hops later to drink coffee beers - a combination of two of my favouritest things: coffee, and beer.

Coffee beers.

Nicked from STW, Silverfish are selling off SDG saddles and other stuff half price, the Bel Air is listed, I thought they'd stopped making them a few years ago. http://www.silverfish-uk.com/products/featuredsection/offer Cheers for that Duncan. That's actually pretty clever. And yeah - might get added to the kit list for my return to the Tour de Mont Blanc/Haute Route next year.

Think I'd probably want a rucksack with wider straps than my Camelbak Mule though...

I probably ate that much in each of my "special butties".

A svelte 10983 Strava calories for me. My attempts to reintroduce that to my system were hindered when i fell asleep in my Chinese takeaway when I got home.

Two excellent posts there lads. Anyway, something from the other end of the finishing times... Got down to The Star at about half ten on Friday night, thinking a late arrival might restrict the amount of drinking I'd do. It sort of worked, but as Steve, Mike, Ione, Matt, Mick and Chew slipped away o...

Schwalbe do a Nobby Nic in 2.9 x 2.6, that seems to come out quite a bit wider than 2.6" when on a wider than normal rim like yours. They're a true 2.6" on 30 mm internal rims at (too) high pressure and 2.55" at 1.5-1.6 bar. I see them getting to square on anything beyond 35 mm, also...

You can get any route off Strava anyway without subscribing - click on the spanner on the left (the one where you flag rides) and you can "Create Route". You can then dl the gpx.

It is Reg, albeit about a km off route after about 80km. Might be a decent option to stop for tea if the weather's nice and you can sit outside - i'm not sure they'd be too welcoming of our type in their dining room for evening service. Lovely food in there though. :-bd

I use the full set up Duncan. It's actual next level. Wouldn't go back to what I was doing before.

Not worth going valves on their own imo - you want the full kit for the full benefit. Doesn't cost that much.

ftr I've tried a few different iterations of rigid (Ti/steel frame, plus tyres/rims, different bars & grips) and just can't get to a point where I'm not either in a bit of pain or experiencing tingly/numb fingers after a big ride. Upshot - I don't ride rigid any more. I figure what's the point o...
