Re: WRT - Thank you

The Shropshire Posse have just landed back in Shropshire, very tired and very smelly, fortunately we didn't have to drive very far, and even better that I didn't have to drive at all (thanks Simon). As always this was a brilliant event, it was great to see so many people out on the trails, although ...

Re: Clun Green Man Festival

Don't normally carry a lock, might this year as we're heading for Bishops Castle on Saturday and it's going to be heaving with pissed people. We've normally managed to get the bikes hidden away, asking pub staff to let us put them around the back (which sometimes leads to an offer of a shed/yard/bac...

Re: carrying kit for the weekend..

Panniers can be a bit of a pain off-road, particularly on singletrack - but if you are on a touring bike then I shouldn't think that will be an issue. Could you lash the bag under your seat? Strap / bungee around your seat post and another around the bag and through the saddle rails? I managed with ...

Re: WRT GPX File Needed

Following someone else's route is not necessarily a good idea, it might be too long, or two short of have too much climbing, or not go via any re-supply points/past every pub in the area. Our route is currently over 22k ft climbing, all CPs and 140 miles. It's probably too much for us (given we like...

Well done! Definitely want to do this sometime this year, maybe I should take the Trance rather than the Fargo (they weigh about the same so why not?)

You'll be fine, just don't be tempted to camp too low down near the water as it will be bloody freezing, get up higher into the woods.

I have a bit of a thing for Topic's, liking some of composites recipes though. Think I'll make some peanut butter flapjack for the WRT.

Crank Bros 17 is also what I have, must be more than 5 years old now and still brilliant. I guess it's a bit heavy, but very reliable.

Re: Leg warmers - any recommendations?

I just picked up a pair of Royal Racing legwarmers from CRC.

Seem nice enough for £8.42, certainly better than the Aldi ones that were fine for a few years before I ripped them.

Re: Dull sleeping bag poll.

Another long term satisfied Pipedream 400 user, I've slept out in -4 in it and survived (albeit with a Whitby Handwarmer for company). I have a Lamina 35 which is about 300gms heavier, got it for damp conditions, but have always managed to keep the pipedream dry so I generally take the lamina only w...

Get in the quilt wet, dry during your sleep and repeat.
I'm fairly well acquainted with both type 1 and type 2 fun, what kind of fun is getting into bed wet?

Righto, part of the North Shropshire contingent is up for this.

2 adults and 2 kids (13 and 10), probably have 2 tents and a bivi bag/tarp.

We stayed at Graig Wen a few years ago, nice place.

Looking forwards to following this, seems like a more "realistic" adventure than say taking on the TD, at least to a desk jockey with a family.

Like that a lot, not sure why you are unhappy with it at all. In terms of getting footage don't you find stopping, running up the trail, setting up the camera, riding past the camera, running back for the camera etc disrupts the ride? I've done it in the past (I have a GoPro that I hardly use) and w...
