Re: Heat retention from "reflective" fabrics.
Heisenberg's uncertainty principle This says you can either know exactly where something is or how fast its going but not both [ 100% accurately] My guess is that the material on the inside warms the inside air faster and the loft slower [ as less energy is getting to it] You may then lose heat[ene...

Re: Drop Bar MTB
It will get the same reach
Length is for two reasons
1 stretched out position
2 handling longer equals less snappy / twitchy so is easier to control and feels more stable pros are usually 120 ( or used to be )
Personally I think it will be usable but sub optimal esp in fast corners

Badger last night on the night ride. Ran a fir distance down the trail in front of us [ 15- 20 m away] before darting under a gate
Never seen one before both a large animal and a small [ as its so low to the ground] one.

Agree a shim is hardly a new innovation
Like the idea of those grips - not that i would use it as i know what width bars i want and its not as wide as the current industry " norm"

If there was anything then the roadies would be wearing it . Dont really care what i look like on a bike* I only care that the clothing functions properly - that said it will be a very long time before i own a romper suit for cycling duties * almost always lycra with waterproof shorts for the MTB

Re: SPOT Tracker Renewal Fees - Being Gouged?
All their plans are in Euros so we have additional transfer costs [ and risks with interest rates] and last year Garmin were cheaper than them for my Inreach - but i was not very bothered about tracking - if you want tracking it is cheaper than Garmin - massively so. Will be doing the maths again so...

I cannot believe there is a QC issues with Planet X products
Once had to file the side of some ones to fit into the channel- but they were non tubeless rims - I have considered sealant before - good to know it works

My 2.8 were the easiest i ever did and the only one i have ever done with a track pump and IME it can be anything from as easy as blowing up a tyre to a week long struggle[ you are using continental tyres ] MY road tyres leaked for about 3 months before finally holding air [ at 80 psi though] but sl...

I dont think any of those would be called green companies and are just companies that exist to make profit - hence them not being noted for altruism. They dont really care how they make their money as long as they do make money. You can compare and contrast with say ecotricity who are a very differe...

I am not personally a fan of gorilla tape as i have had it fail [ second hand wheel] and its a mare to remove it and the sticky residue it leaves if you ever need to retape it
Also the tessa tape is dirt cheap on ebay

Re: Tubeless - your ritual
Never add the sealant but sometimes it's in there as I am swapping tyres over ( last time was due to breaking a rim I don't do this as rule/I try to avoid it ) Fit tyre . Use fire extinguisher (9 litre at 120psi) Await popping sound of beading. See if it stays up ( or I can hear a leak) . Fix this i...

As mentioned exposure if you can afford it MTB ones are good for the price. Mate uses one. Joystick for your head . Pricey but it will last for decades and who wants to take risks with a light failing. Lummicycle are also good but pricey. My battery has finally died ( gives just under 3 hours at abo...

Happy to live in cloud cuckoo land as some quite clearly do it for environmental good, though not at a loss Basically its like arguing Patagonia only do it to make money - I am sure you could argue this but its just not true As for expecting a green company to have the deep pockets of the petro chem...
