Re: Quick one: stowable packpack

Another vote for the Decathlon pack (although mine is a different design to the one in the link, possibly an older model as I've had it for a while). Tiny when packed, big enough opened up and very cheap. :-bd

Re: who rides Ti ?

^ thanks but it's just an 'imho/immo*'. *In my moderate experience. Don't forget the reason that 1 of the 3 Ti frames I've owned cracked is probably due to my design  I thought I'd accounted for 'it' and it passed testing, but still... Yeah but that's what makes the insight so much more fasci...

Re: who rides Ti ?

I have the opposite problem with my ti salsa, the frame has a brushed/matt finish and the straps from my frame bag polish the ti. I've heard that non-stick scouring pads used lightly can be used to restore matt finish but I've not tried it. Odd, that's one of the things I really like about my Ti Fa...

Re: who rides Ti ?

I have a ti Sonder Camino. I bought it because I had an alu version of the same bike which I loved and rode a lot and I wanted to upgrade (mainly just out of curiosity as I'd never owned a ti bike before but it was the bike I rode the most and it was also my most budget bike which I thought didn't m...

Re: Coffee bags or other options

When you get some coffee beans, you can try the coffee, honey and cheese thing. It sounds very odd, but it's delicious. Cut a strong cheese into approximately 1cm cubes (strong cheddar or parmesan work well) and skewer them on a cocktail stick. Dip the cheese in honey and top it off with a coffee b...

Re: Coffee bags or other options

My coffee grinder arrived today, it looks to be quite decent quality although it has ceramic burrs which I believe is a give away as to it's budget heritage. I've just ordered some beans to grind in it, what have you lot done to me?

On a slightly more positive note, I've heard the term "fly camping" used on the radio a couple of times recently to describe these idiots so at least a differentiation is starting to be made between them and us in some parts of the media.

Re: Coffee bags or other options

Toying with the idea too now, what grinder did you go for? I just google searched "best cheap coffee grinder" and read a few reviews and went for a Hario Skerton which is cheap and got decent reviews. It's a shot in the dark as I basically know nothing about them though (other than what I...

Re: What Gravel ****** brakes - GRX worth the dosh?

I'd love to take credit Shaf but I genuinely think the brakes saved me today. I suppose all the years of riding off road with bikes sliding about underneath you does help a little bit when you get out of shape on the road but my overwhelming feeling was that I'd been lucky not that I'd been super sk...

Re: What Gravel ****** brakes - GRX worth the dosh?

Having adjusted my TRPs yet again today I’m definitely ditching mechanicals. That sounds like a close call Jurassic! Just skid marks on the road hopefully! It's not like things like this happen every day but boy I'm glad I had those brakes today. You know when you're in a crash (car, bike, motorbik...

Re: What Gravel ****** brakes - GRX worth the dosh?

Coincidentally my GRX brakes saved me from a certain crash today. I was riding down a singletrack tarmac lane on my way back from a gravel ride loop and came round a downhill corner to find a stationary transit van and car trying to get past each other and completely blocking the road (there was no ...

Re: Coffee bags or other options

I've mostly been a tea drinker all my life but I do enjoy a "real" coffee now and again and I used Percol coffee bags when bikepacking and found them acceptable (certainly better than instant coffee). About six months ago I treated myself to an Aeropress and have now become a bit of a coff...

Re: What Gravel ****** brakes - GRX worth the dosh?

GRX are impressive. Lever shape is a big improvement and its the levers, rather than the calipers where all the good stuff happens. Different pivot point also makes braking from the hoods feel better. I used to have to get on the drops to get enough power to brake hard on my old cable set up. With ...

Re: What Gravel ****** brakes - GRX worth the dosh?

I was in a similar situation quite recently when I upgraded from an alu gravel bike to a ti build and carried my Spyres over. To be honest I always liked the Spyres and found them to be decent to use and maintain but I felt that the new ti frame warranted an upgrade to hydraulic brakes. I looked at ...

Re: OCD question of the week or day

I think you need to decide whether your priority lies on having a roadie set up that"ll work off-road okay or the other way round. I started off with a compact road chainset on my gravel bike and now have a 2x mountain bike chainset with tiny granny ring. My reasoning for this is that if you st...

SportPursuit have some Terra Nova stuff. Perhaps nothing too exciting but who am I to say what you find exciting? I am not buying from anywhere that requires me to have a membership. I think the bag would need to be quite low for the light bracket to clear it. Here's the bracket on my bike anyway. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50170158556_c734bc23af_c.jpg IMG_20200730_160528790 by Jurassic690 , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50170159076_da5f613d4e_c.jpg IMG_...

Re: The post man's been ...

Thanks, I have some Ritchey venturemax bars which also have very limited 'land' to mount stuff. I wondered if that mount might let the light 'see' over the top of a handlebar bag? I think it'd depend on your bar bag set up. I must admit when I fitted the light mount it did strike me that it might b...

I'd love a medium for my wife and a large for myself if it's possible (it's such a cool design)? Name is Chris Wheeler. Thanks.
