Sleeping bag liners
Now winters aproaching thinking of ways to stay a bit warmer. Looking at sleeping bag liners to add a few more degrees to my sleeping bag which is rated to around -2c. Looking at options between cotton/silk/thermolight bags (may use instead of the normal bag in summer) Any experiences/recomendations...

Well done Ian and Kev. Hats off for competing the route in that time.
I bailed a quarter of the way around, and cut the route short, but still pleased i managed 101k in a day. Next year though..

Re: GPS
I've got a Garmin Dakota, and i'm very happy with it. The instructions are useless but, its easy to pick up how to use. Runs on batteries, so its good for multiday trips, and its claimed that you can get 20 hours from a set (not tested that myself, but i'll report back) Easy to upload and download r...

Re: Bear Bones 200 Route Details.
I'm sure Stu means, take the first land rover track as you leave the car park at the start of the climb (avoiding the inital fire road), and then pick up the fire road later on. From the green arrow you'll need to take the track to start on the first section of the water splashes. You can pick it up...

Re: BB200 Food
How convenient... I recon the Red Lion is 90km in so should be there around 7ish, (by my calculations) in time for serving hours.
Although leaving a nice walm pub afterwards my be a bit tricky :?

BB200 Food
Thinking about what i'm going to eat next weekend, as there are limited food options enroute.
Usually go for cereal bars and pasties, but what does everyone else go for? Looking for stuff that doesnt need cooking, good calorie/weight ratio, and doesnt mind being kept at room temperature.

Re: A theoretical Q ... TD Content.
I think we'll find out after next weekend.
Either love it so much it fuels the imagination more to complete something like the TD, or that kind of adventure isnt for us, and we'll revert back to bikepacking, just happy to bimble around with no definitive route or destination in mind.

Got it to work by reducing the number of waypoints in Bikehike. Just need to check it hasnt reduced them too much.

Re: Bear Bones 200 Route Details.
Anybody got a gpx file for the whole route in a manageble size?
Stu's has too many waypoints for my garmin to cope with, and it would be nice to have the one file instead of using the 3 smaller files.

Re: Radnor Ring
Great ride guys. Not been out a lot this year, so good to get some miles in before the BB200. Also learnt a lot more about kit, so some purchases on the cards soon :P The push up that last hill just about did me in, so thanks for waiting and getting me back. I had to have a cheeky cat nap in a layby...

Re: BB 200 Kit List
I'm with alfachippy. Normal riding gear, plus minimum kit. If the weathers not so favourable then maybe a bit more. Nothing worse than putting on wet socks in the morning, but after 5 minutes you dont notice, and dry socks have soaked up any wetness from your shoes anyway. Quite looking forward to r...

Solar Battery Charger
Thinking for longer trips is it worth finding a solar charger to charge up batteries for GPS, Phone, etc. Looking for something that charges AA batteries.
Any good ones on the market, or is it easier to take enough spare batteries which offset the size/weight of the charger?

Re: Which GPS?
Liking both the Garmin Oregon and Dakota.
Any real difference?
Screens bigger on the Oregon it uses more power, and its a tad more expensive. Apart from that they seem identical?

Heard some poor reviews of the Memory Map. Like the Garman, but dont think you can change the battery, so it rules out use for multi day rides

Re: Rear rack
I have a pannier rack on the commuting bike, and it over weights the rear of the bike, unweighting the front. Ok on the road, but wouldnt want to be offroad with that setup.

What new bike?
Ok, saved up a few pennies and looking for a new bike.
Something that is bikepacking friendly, but also something i can play around in the woods with, and take with me on big all-day Lakes rides.
Getting pushed towards an on-one 456. Other suggestions please....

Spending the weekend around Llanberris climbing and looking to do a spot of biving while i'm there.
I'll be on foot, so any good areas to take a look and and leave the car somewhere safe?

Cant get the time off work, but might join you from friday night onwards for the Northern section (Hebden Bridge upwards). I was up near Dent on saturday, biving and road part of the route. Its not all on the route is marked on the 1:25000 OS maps, and some of the route isnt marked that well (althou...
