My youngest was extraordinarily cheerful when he woke me up at 3 this morning. Yay, Friday.

Re: Recommend me a diddy saddle bag please

My Topeak aero is 17 years old now - fits all my tubeless kit in it including a spare road tube. Only gets taken off if I’m taking that bike on a multi-day trip

Re: What are you reading now?

Does anyone else accumulate books quicker than they read them? I don’t think my buying habits have ever adjusted to the fact that I have so many other demands on my time these days and it’s even easier now most of the books don’t take up any space.

Re: Them panniers

Just to muddy the waters even more, I get the advantages (and disadvantages) of panniers over bikepacking bags, but what's less clear to me is the advantages of those micro-panniers over a modern carradice style saddle bag on a micro rack or bagman style support.

26/3/2021 70.5
2/4/2021 70.9
9/4/2021 70.6

Re-lost most of what I gained but that's been somewhat torturous since I've not really been able to do any exercise with my ankle. I'm finding it harder to stay disciplined when it's all work and no play.

The UCI are already trying to muscle in on gravel riding, do we need them in bikepacking too?

There’d be so much less to discuss about cycling if it wasn’t so subjective.

In the last week finished Foundation & Empire, which was ok but a little dated and One Man and His Bike which I really enjoyed. On to The Prefect by Alastair Reynolds.

Re: Going tubeless...

I need a gauge too, the one on my parktools track pump is useless, it doesn't register any pressure until the tyre is inflated so at least 10psi off. PLP did a video comparison last year and in no great surprise, he liked the expensive hipster option. https://www.pathlesspedaled.com/2020/09/07/the-r...

I think it’s only the tunnel that’s closed at night due to it being a roosting spot for bats.

I remember the time when we got a massive box with basically a stick in it (it was one of those extendible washing line holderuperers) and a vast amount of packaging to stop it bouncing around inside the box. It was't that long after that Amazon announced that they'd be a) using a much wider range o...

Re: Would this work around standard brake calipers?

Any bar bag has got the potential to interfere with brake cable placement if that’s what you mean. If you’ve got side exit brake cables as opposed to running along the bars, PLP used a brake noodle to route the cable away from his bag to avoid the friction.
