Depends on the Garmin - my edge explore does not have a barometric sensor but the newer version does.

I think I last did 100k in a day in 2005 or 2006 but do fancy doing an audax - just need to find a fairly flat one for my first.

I always assumed that mosque came about for the same sort of reasons that Jerez became known as Sherry - something got mangled in the translation.

There's a joke in there somewhere about the fact that the Americans have already misappropriated our language enough already so we don't really care if they do it again.

Spare luggage sale
Selling off my ortlieb bikepacking gear since I prefer a holster / drybag setup: 15L bar bag, original version, well used with 4 intact spacers and a couple of ones held together with duct tape. £50 4L accessory bag, versatile bit of kit where I've used it with the bar bag, on its own on the bars an...

The only running I'm getting to do this week is up and down the stairs while the missus has taken the youngest off for a week so that sounds blissful

Re: Kayak Oar/Long Pole Carrying on a bike
There's a cyclist gardener that I often see doing maintenance on road verges when I'm going for a run around town - he's normally got a rake, broom and strimmer attached to his bike along with panniers with shears and other tools.

Re: Today's Run
I used to get shin splints all the time up until a few years ago. What fixed it for me was just following the bbc c25k podcast pretty religiously for a 9 week program instead of my usual haphazard and intermittent run around like a headless chicken until I get tired. I didn't suffer from them at all...

To badly paraphrase the late great terry pratchett, don't run around on a granite surface waving a big lump of metal while yelling "All gods are bastards!". His example was a sword but a bike would probably be just as effective.

Re: Today's Run
The most I've had in a single run is 350m of climbing, lumpy indeed.
Slowly getting back up to distances again, it's been hard work getting back into the habit of getting out the door on a lunchtime, especially while it's been so warm.

It's also the start of the Tour de France tomorrow, which I realise may split the room, but I'm a bit partial, Eurosport havin...
