Re: The post man's been ...
...and brought a new GRX mech to replace the 105 one that exploded spectacularly the other day. Thought while I was replacing it, I might as well get something that will cope with a larger cassette without swapping the goat link in and out, shift better, and... be more clutchy. But I can't escape t...

See images of Met Office forecast over March - looks like we need to head to NW Scotland. Similar parallels to 2012 when The NW got roasted and the rest of the UK nearly drowned, for the whole of spring and summer.

We've got BaM Rules/rules and a gover... well, Phil anyway  . (Has he got a body or is he just a virtual chimera on the forum I wonder? ) I'm still a real person for now Reg. Hopefully when I eventually get replaced with an 'AI' I will be one of those that you read about, you know, the...

Re: Is this 'bikepacking'?
I suspect Stu is along the right lines... Interestingly, over on that Bikepacking.com, all the young dudes are strapping saddle packs, bar rolls, front pouches, frame bags, multiple stem cells / gas tanks / other wee bags, fork bags on there bikes and also carrying bum bags (I'm looking at you North...

No bogs, no tussocks, no cowering under a thin sheet of nylon in the rain, no slugs. Where is the fun in that? A better version is to carry proper bikepacking stuff (cue further argument  ) but stay in hotels / B&B's hostels / bothies. I did my first Highland trail like that and I w...

I noticed that. The OS app in bike mode took you up the track to with 100m of it. But I wouldn't trust the OS app to tell me the time of day....

Re: WRT GR's
Cheers Stu, now trying to plot on a map (digital Reg, sorry)
So the utterly rubbish OS app doesn't allow you to add GR's to a route - does anyone know of something that allows me to plot all the GR's then create a GPX pf them all and straight lines between them, which I can edit?

Another for the last minute rush... Been down to Mum and Dads a fair bit this month as Dad is having a very hard time recovering from a knee opp. "The last one wasn't like this!" he said. You were 56 then Dad, not 83... Anyway, he is currently safely in a respite care home and should be ho...

Re: Monks trod - wtf
Seems to be a large amount of irony over this as it was the UK govt that introduced the CROW act which restricted a lot of byways to non-motorised use and prevented historical claims to creating more byways (and other ROW's which unfortunately back-fired) I actually wonder if the journo has got it w...

I've ducked out of the group start as I'm keeping hols free to help mum and dad. I think I will just do a ride up the route one time but probably not this year.

Look at it this way Shaff - if you manage to sort this, bike related fixing will seem easy, ever after! That said stainless bottle cage bolts corrosion welded into ally frames can be much harder as there is less to hack away at!

Bad luck Dave - mebbes should expand my crash thread to crashes, mechanicals and other bike related misfortune which don't necessarily cause major damage or cost but are a PIA. No cycling for me this weekend as down at Mum and Dads - Dad is still in care after a knee replacement opp so helping Mum s...

Anyone who has properly smashed themselves up in a bike crash ignore, this is for wusses like me who do stupid things.... So a month or so back I was out on the Krampus on a dark, but unseasonably dry and calm night. Semi fallen tree at trail side decides to grab hold of bars and wrench them from my...
