Jumbo Jims?

Hey all,

just wondered if anyone has been using the Schwalbe Jumbo Jims yet? Specifically the 4.8s? Any thoughts?

Salsa Cowchipper??

I know there's a few on this forum that ride drop bars. I'm wondering if what kind of thoughts people are having on the new new Cowchipper bar from Salsa? As the name suggests, it sits somewhere between the Cowbell and the Woodchipper. More info here : http://salsacycles.com/components/category/road...

Re: New Shand......

Ok, I'll come clean. This bike is pretty much just a wee itch I wanted to scratch. Geometry, clearances, cable routing braze-ons etc are almost exactly the same as our existing Stoater. The Stoater handling and ride is exactly the way I want it so no rush to change it on that model. The one you saw ...

Re: shand bahookie

Do you know what the weight on the complete build and bare frame is? Obviously weight is less of an issue with this kind of bike, im just intrigued to know how it compares to what i know  Don't have it to hand but will get it tomorrow and post back. From memory, frame was a little over 2kg I...

Re: shand bahookie

Both Life and Spirit are Niobium. Most Spirit tubes are triple butted now and are generally drawn with thinner wall which puts them in lighter weight category. Not sure if that's righht - steels contain alloying additions of niobium and vanadium ("Nivacrom") or just niobium ("Niobium...

Re: shand bahookie

Like I say none is a negative, as its a lovely looking frame with some nice details, but the things that you've changed to presumely keep the costs down compared to your Stoater stand out to me, and makes it look expensive to some of the other other 'niche' UK frame builders. I like this kind of im...

Re: shand bahookie

And not 29er +, surely with sliding dropouts you could meet both options in one. It was never supposed to be a 29er+. That would be a different bike. And sticking sliding dropouts on it isn't going to solve that problem. There's a thread detailing a 29+ bike we've done recently here : http://single...

Re: Highland trail 550!!

Ian's strategy looks spot on. Assuming he can keep it up. Bryan does look like he's out for good few days riding and camping! Looks like he had a 10 hour sleep last night. I like his style! I rode home from work in the dark last night. 18 miles on/off road and my average speed was slower than Steve ...

Wow, some of these guys are flying! I'm guessing conditions will be pretty close to perfect right now. I'd love to be out there....
