Re: Hammock underquilt advise please

Actually 'double black diamond' is the make...seems like they've sold out but you get the idea...buy a cheap down blanket and adjust it to suit.

There are some down quilts Amazon for £20...black diamond is the make I think will add a link in a bit..lots of vids on YouTube showing you how to turn it into an underblanket...personally I have been getting in with an old thermarest I had...I also think using a mat means you can set up a ground bi...

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

My lowest is a 30/40 combo front/back....yes you spin. But If you can get a fully loaded bike up the hills where I live (Asturias, northern Spain, think Cornwall x snowdonia) you deserve some kind of meddle and probably a knee operation. Yes you could walk, but spinning is more energy efficient and...

Re: Is There Such a Thing as a Decent, Lightweight Combination Lock?

Simple answer, no. The biggest factor in bike theft is where you leave the bike and at what time. If someone really wants the bike there is not a lock on the market that cannot be broken. The main deterrent is visibility imho. If m out bike packing I don't take a lock I just tie something very noisy...

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.

may... Another local trip to the woods...only a short one. The dog told me that she fancied a night out. Cycled up to the South downs way round kingly vale then dropped back down towards emsworth. Camped in a small Woodland on the outskirts of the village called Holly bank woods. Beautiful night! Mo...

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.

April.... Cheeky bit of social distancing tucked away in the woods at kingly vale after a bone rattling spin from emsworth.. Only 7 miles but well I thought I was already taking the piss... Woke up to some cheery walker admiring the hammock. Honestly what are people doing out walking at 6am on a rai...

Re: Too Fat to Bivi!

If I remember rightly...I weighed the kit without the inner and it was around 1400 g... So you save about 700g. Not bad for a shelter that can fit two (or 1 plus gear) with a hydrostatic head of 5000.. For under £100 that is.

Re: Too Fat to Bivi!

I've been using a Vango banshee for years...yes it's not the coolest but for circa £100 it's amazing value. Light enough for my needs and small enough too. Just enough room for me and some gear. Super easy pitch. I have had it out in some appalling weather and it's been bombproof. I have one of the...

cheap and cheerful Vango Banshee...I usually ditch the inner and just use the fly... Stands up to pretty much anything.

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

On gear hangers...I used a suntour one from spa cycles...£6! Had to file it just a bit as the cage was fouling it when getting into the 11 tooth. But twas 10seconds work. Is yours the same as the one in the link bluebus200? Yes, that one...I found it fouled the cage when dropping by into the smalle...

Re: Does anyone use a Hennessy hammock?

Thanks all...yes I went out and twiddled with it yesterday. Managed to get a slightly better hang but even so my head is cramped up against the edge. I'll try it out a few more times but may well sell it and go bigger. I'm only 170cm tall so I either I'm super fussy or they need to revise their size...

Does anyone use a Hennessy hammock?

Hey all... Just tried out a Hennessy hammock ultralight backpacker... Wondering if anyone else has one/used one. It felt fairly small and im wondering if that is just how it is or if I'm just crap at putting up hammocks!

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

I'm running 11/40 cassette with a 46/30 chainset on tiagra mechs and shifters. All runs fine and not too much difficulty setting up. You'll need a wolf tooth to extend the rear mech so it can get around the large cogs... Another way to do it is to change the rear mech to a MTB one and use a j/tech p...

I sort of know how a spanner works which is mostly why the bike parts people love me......I generally buy the wrong thing then have to buy adapters to get it to work 😂

Re: Surly karate monkey fork for genesis latitude???

Out of interest how did you liked the latitude as a rigid set up? I'm beginning to wonder if I should actually be just plump for some better suspension forks... I tended to run it rigid in the winter to save the sus forks from the worst of the weather and filth and then put the sus forks back on fo...
