Re: I just can't do it ...
I rode one of those into the ground, loved it. It sold about 10-15% of the volume of the 2x10 version at the same price that followed it though, despite the 1x10 bike having hydros. Bar-end shifters were a sticking point, oddly for me since 1x10 stick-shift works really well. Friend of mine has one...

Re: The post man's been ...
A couple of sram cassettes to 1x11 both the OHs and my nice bikes when the winter is finished. Yesterday it wasn't the postman but I stopped for a coffee in a local bike shop/cafe job where i was persuaded into buying a half price stolen goat orkaan waterproof jersey thing. Not warm enough to wear i...

Wtd, 10mm qr thru axle
Does anyone have one of these gathering dust by any chance? I bought some 10mm end caps to make getting the rear wheel out of the roadrat with guards on easier but superstar seem to have been out of stock of their 10 quid ones for some time and the next nearest is more like 30! Alternatively if anyo...

Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?
Well, i made it. A couple of slightly short days (including a 35mile road ride- shock horror!) mid week made a fifty miler in order on the crosser on Friday. Quite nice actually to go out and loop round the tamer bridleways without doing too much singletrack hunting! Yesterday was very grey and most...

Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?
Made it to 248km today with a lovely cross ride. Mix of off road, singletrack and tarmac. Clearly not been eating enough the last few days because i thought i was going to bonk after a worryingly short distance and had to reroute via a cafe!

Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?
Ride home from family gathering gets me to 194km.
Are most people doing it on or off road? Finding it a bit more time consuming than I expected getting the off road miles in so may have to hack down to brighton and back by road to make up a few later in the week.

Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?
Day 1 I made 63 miles on the MTB. Yesterday sneaked out for 10 miles on the crosser, today did a good 35 on the crosser again including some excessively rooty and alippery trails- great fun. Riding down to the inlawd got me to 185km and riding home should catch me up with the target. Weather lovely ...

Re: Is anyone Festive 500-ing?
I figure if I have the time I'll try and extend any ride early on a fair bit to make up for off days. That and ride absolutely everywhere i can when visiting peoplenover the christmas period to pick up odd miles while still being sociable. Got a bigish cx route lined up as a backup for later in the ...

Xt dynamo hub to go with my revo- first thing i did, naturally, was plug the two together and see how long it took to get the light going just turning it by hand.

I'm gona give it a go over 3 days. I'm severely impressed! I think I would be crucified by my other half, my family and her family if I tried to do that! trying to avoid a scenario where I'm just banging in miles for the sake of it Ditto, although a back up plan for this winter is to try an...

I'd be up for something. Possibly midweek if that's doable/easier for you- I'm at the other end of the line, just up the road from redhill station so could show you round up here too if you like

Is anyone Festive 500-ing?
I know it's all a bit Crikey, how much but I may have a go this year. Looks like a nice little challenge- spend the days riding and the evenings working through the bottle of port I've got lined up. Wanted to last year but was on call for most of the week making long rides a bit awkward. I'm aiming ...

Revo from Wriggles of this parish (at least, I figure, there can't be two people with similar surname selling revos from the same part of the country but on different forums at the same time). It's a lot dinkier than I remember them being! Just waiting for the dynamo hub to make it here then I've go...

Re: 29+ vs 27+ front
Quite a few companies do that to a degree but tend to just limit it to 650b and 29, with maybe the small and med available as both so you can choose your trade off. I'm definitely influenced by advertising but i think trek have a tagline 'ride the fastest wheel that fits' (my lbs is a trek dealer......

It's been easy this year. Other half and I just bought a house and spent yesterday moving in, so I had neither the time nor the willingness to spend even more money! Last year I had a list of things I needed and a list of things I really wanted but only at x price. Then made sure I didnt buy anythin...

How heavy is too heavy?
So, some idle thoughts here but not really having any basis for it I thought I'd see what people think- basically, how heavy a load do you think is the heaviest you can get away with before it starts to significantly curtail your ability to ride your bike in a 'normal' or enjoyable way, either from ...

Cracking. Be gentle with it, I've rounded one of those out before on a very similar looking hub. Still not sure how, those end caps are not normally that tight.
