Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
Ethical question. I had a 15-minute nap on the BB200 last weekend (and multiple micro-naps while riding!). Have I completed my November BAM? Discuss …

Re: BB200
Some waffle from me … My BB200 started with a nearly seven-hour journey to get to the Star on Friday night, thanks to chaos on the roads. I think I may be the first person to stay at the Star in its new guise as a B&B (without the breakfast). It seems to have been done up to a high standa...

Re: BB200 route.
I’m at the Star. Only person here but I can’t be bothered driving any further as it took over 6 hours to get here. Enjoy the beer and good luck all for tomorrow.

Re: On the subject of gloves, what thin waterproof gloves?
I picked up some Showa 306s from the garden centre a while back. Not used them yet but they feel comfy and seem like they should be good. I’m generally a large in gloves and I have these in a size 8/L which is a good fit. I might squeeze some silk liner gloves under them but nothing more than that. ...

I might try and drop into the Wynnstay for a pint on Friday if there’s going to be a few BBers in.

Basically a B&B without the breakfast. There’s a microwave in the room.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
October’s been busy and yesterday I realised there was biblical rain forecast for the rest of it. :o Last night looked like my last chance to at least start the night in relatively dry conditions, so I headed out for a pleasant but uneventful loop around the Surrey hills before setting up camp in a ...

Re: Show me your 69er!
I also used to have a 69er SS Inbred with a 26in Exotic fork. It wasn’t perfect but it was a fun experiment and convinced me to get a ‘proper’ 29er Inbred, which led to a Swift then a Stooge.

Re: OutdoorActive & Viewranger merger:Am I losing my tiles?
Yup, I too am feeling thoroughly screwed over by Outdooractive. They seem to have given me 12 months pro membership but I’ve not bothered using it as ViewRanger still works and does what I need for now. I can’t see OA giving me OS maps for life, which is effectively what I’ve already paid for via Vi...

FWIW I managed to set up my stock On-One Fatty rims tubeless without too much hassle. Just used lots of Gorilla tape, IIRC.

An insulated gilet from Galibier. Purchase inspired by the looming *November* BB200 but I think it’s going to get lots of use, on and off the bike.

Re: Brooks saddles
I was in the same place as you and decided to give a Cambium one a go on a new bike. It’s nice but not significantly more (or less) comfortable than other saddles I get on with. It’s also quite weighty. I’m happy enough with it but won’t rush out to buy another.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021
Got September done last night. Nothing spectacular, just a last-minute plan to meet a mate and ride up Leith Hill, grab a beer and flop into a bivy bag. Met some friends unexpectedly at the pub, which was nice, slept well under a brilliant moon and woke at dawn to a rather lovely misty morning. No p...

Re: With the demise of The Star...
I stayed at the pub in Llanbrynmair before one BB200. It was basic but the welcome was warm, the food was hot and the beer was perfectly acceptable.
