Flying with a bike. Can you book via an agent/thrid party?
Hi, I recently flew back with my bike using Ryanair from Spain. I had searched for the flight through skyscanner or similar and found the Ryanair flight I wanted. The site gave me various options for buying the ticket and some of these were cheaper than buying direct from Ryanair. I chose one of the...

Re: CUK and Article on New Forest / the Verderers
Good article π Nice to see this issue being brought up by Cycling UK and hopefully they will continue to fight the case for sensible cycling access rights. I often wonder what evidence the verderers have if any ref the extra damage caused by cyclists. You only have to look at what a mess and damage ...

Wanted: Inflatable Sleeping Mat. Regular, RW or Longer
Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade from my existing self inflating mat to an inflatable mat. Will mainly be used for summers but would ideally like an insulated one with an R value of 3 ish but might consider others. Ideally something fairly light weight and smallish pack size.
Thanks.
Andy

Re: 3LW - problems?
Interesting to hear of incorrect locations with this app which I think can be very useful. I haven't used it loads but was made aware of a problem only last week! I went off for a bivvy and sent my wife a message saying i had found a very nice quiet spot to bed down for the night. Followed it up by ...

Re: Which suspension seatpost? Experiences/Recommendations
Iβve used various suspension posts: PNW coast suspension dropper: Feels like it only really works for big hits and does less taking the trail buzz compared to redshift or thudbuster type designs. Itβs also noticeable that the movement is up and down rather than moving in an arc like the redshift or...

Re: Which suspension seatpost? Experiences/Recommendations
Thanks Boab. Not sure why but I've always thought of these as being more appropriate for a road bike . I did however read somewhere that a cheaper Chinese clone version worked very well but possibly on a road bike

Re: Which suspension seatpost? Experiences/Recommendations
Hi Teaman... I've had similar issues as yourself and I found it was the change in frame that sorted me. Boardman and Cannondale were a revelation back in the days which despite being alu were so comfy on the old back. I'd look at your frame. Used suspension seatpost for a few years too but ultimate...

Which suspension seatpost? Experiences/Recommendations
Hi, Due to some back issues over the last year or so, I am looking to buy a suspension seatpost to help reduce the strain on it and also to make cycling a bit more comfortable and I would be interested in hearing your comments/experiences/recommendations etc. FYI, I'm 6'2", 83kgs and the suspen...

Re: Between now and January?
Having recently done a couple of MTB day rides on the Isle of Wight, I hope to get over there for a few days bikepacking in Oct. Can't remember who it was on here that recommended the following site (big thank you :-) ) but was blown away with the beauty of it: https://www.lifeinthesaddle.cc/2019/09...

Re: Great British Divide
Interesting to see that although the top 3 went with very little sleep, some of the next riders have made good progress but with a much more even split between ride time and stop time. The stoppage time appears to be split into 2 categories of stop time and break time. Am I right in assuming that br...

Re: Good C02 inflator.
Ref the bottle method for expeditions/away from home etc I'm guessing the thing to do is to just take the lid and tube, as you can nearly always find somewhere selling 2 lite bottles of fizz. If you can't find a track pump to use to inflate the bottle, are the following 2 options likely to be viable...

Re: Good C02 inflator.
Appreciate that this will weigh next to nothing but assume you literally flattened the bottle for expedition carrying π€. I have heard they are rated to a very high psi but hadn't thought of taking them out on trails or expeditions due to the volume. I suppose you could take it as an additional water...

Re: Good C02 inflator.
I think I have an old genuine innovations one but newer ones from Aldi and Decathlon. Have only ever used them on tubes with the commuting bikes but all worked fine. I assume you would need one of the bigger cartridges to try and seat a MTB tyre. I also make tight sleeves for the CO2 cartridges from...

Re: Carradice expedition support struts or similar.....help please.
P-clips on the seat stays appears to be what is being used on the Drakkar, so use them with the Carradice Bagman support struts to produce a similar set up. There's also Ron's Pec Deck https://ronsbikes.com/products/pec-deck-chest-support?variant=39896924291160 Thanks for sorting the image out Boab...

Carradice expedition support struts or similar.....help please.
I have a Carradice Super C saddle bag with a QR tour saddle support. I was looking at buying a set of carradice expedition struts to further strenghthen/support the saddlebag when heavy. My frame would require the carradice seatpost attachement as there aren't any rack mounts on that part of the fra...

Interested in the marathons and mudguards. How much wear on the tyres?
Will check ref mudguard suitability.

Re: Bar harnesses - recommendation
I wouldn't use that as the 3rd strap goes around the headtube. That'll just cause wear to the paint/metal and abrade the strap. Look for something that straps to the fork crown instead. Unless I'm mistaken the 3rd strap around the headtube seems to be the norm for various well reviewed harnesses in...
