Re: Another what bike thread
Sounds like a good plan and the Ramin + is a cracker :-bd I understand the Ramin is a good bike for the cash, and it's looking very, VERY tempting. However, the Alpkit Sonder Transmitter NX1 is according to the reviews, a "game changer". Now, although I hate that phrase, I'd also hate to ...

I'm thinking of plumping for the one of the 650b+ options, seeing how she gets on and if she moans about the fatt-ish tyres, then plump for a second wheelset with "normal" tyres, whether that's 650b or 29. Sound sensible enough?

Re: Another what bike thread
With regards to tyre sizes etc. I switched my KTM from 2.1" Rapid Robs at about 40psi, over to a 2.35" Rock Razor and Nobby Nic combo, usually running down at around 28-30psi. I inflated them up to 40psi for a tarmac jaunt the other day and was absolutely amazed at how well they actually r...

Hi. The Mrs wants a new bike and I need some assistance in helping her pick something. Here's the basic criteria: * Bikepacking friendly, plenty of cage mounts etc * Preferably 1x10 - She finds the gears complicated and annoying, the simpler the better. * As far as geometry goes she prefers a slight...

29er tyres on 700c rims
Hi,
I've heard tell of people fitting 29 inch MTB tyres to 700c rims, however, doing a bit of maths would tell me a 700mm rim is closer to the diameter of a 27.5 inch tyre. Am I missing something? Is it possible to fit 29ers on 700c rims?

Gravel bike suggestions?
Hey all, Just wondering if there are any "off the shelf" gravel bikes out there, particularly well suited to bike packing? I'm hoping to keep the budget below £1k if possible. I have a Ridley Xbow at the moment, but here's a few fundamental design issues with the bike which mean setting it...

Re: Gravel tyre advice
I've got a pair of the 40mm On-One Gravels that I keep meaning to advertise as they're don't have quite enough clearance for my forks. They've only really been used for the Dirty Reiver where they handled everything thrown at them. Any interest? You still fancy selling ? What sort of condition are ...

Gravel tyre advice
Anyone got recommendations for 700c gravel tyres please ? Routes will be 40% paved, 40% service road. 20% bridle way on average. I've got clearance for 40mm tyres, Google suggests Clement x'plor MSOs take some beating. Any other options I should consider ? Ta

WTD: Blackburn outpost Handlebar clamp
Long shot I know but I don't want to have to buy a complete new system.
What I'm after is the clamp that fits to the handlebars to allow the use of the Blackburn handlebar harness. Anyone got one?
I don't need the harness itself, nor the dry bag. Thanks

Out of interest, if I did want to try out bar end shifters, which would be the direct / easiest replacement for my 2 x 10 Tiagras? Will any 10 speed work?

Re: Cost of swapping drop bars?
You might be able to keep the Tiagra STIs with the new bars if you use longer cable housings so that the cables pass under the bar roll. Worth trying before you shell out for new shifters. Bar tape could be anywhere between £4 and £40. £10 stuff will do just fine. That's not a bad idea, just extend...

Re: Cost of swapping drop bars?
I can't see that you're missing anything, although I would give barend shifters some consideration (you soon get used to them) ... and i'm not sure quite where you've got your price for bar tape from ... twenty quid's a lot for tape. Cheers Stu. Would my theory of running the Tiagras as brake lever...

Cost of swapping drop bars?
Hi all, I'd like to turn my CX bike in to a slightly more capable bike packing iron horse for travelling faster and lighter than my MTB. I currently have standard width drop bars and Tiagra STI brifters, which causes me headaches with regards to fitting a handlebar roll. In theory I'd like to swap t...

Re: Edge instead of Etrex
Do you know if there's much difference between the 'Touring' and the 810? I've no interest in 'training' features or ant+ sensors etc. I just want mapping, gpx routes and I guess speed, time etc.

Edge instead of Etrex
My wife is about to grab herself a new bike from halfords on the c2w scheme, so I figured I'd grab myself a GPS unit into the bargain. Halfords however don't stock the Etrex units, only the Edge series cycle computers, some of which I believe have similar GPS functionality, but I'm not sure about th...
