Re: Bargain Alert Thread

I've been scouring the classifieds for a while for a 2nd hand neoair xlite and they seem to go for 120-140 on eBay. Saved the arseache and scored one new for 120 post free here - https://www.elitemountainsupplies.co.uk/camping-trekking-c4/sleeping-c17/thermarest-sleeping-mats-c19/thermarest-neoair-...

Re: Winter Event GR.

I am going after a British Cycle Quest clue near Abergynolwen so heading out past CAT, down to Tywyn and Happy Valley / NCN8 and into Mach for breakfast and then back via Forge. About 100km with a 10km bonus near the endif I am feeling frisky. Weather may scupper plans,I have not looked yet. Into M...

Re: Winter Event GR.

Haven't seen much posted about this. Who's in, who's out, and where are people planning to go? I'm in, and am thinking of a mainly road ride with a bothy, but a bothy far from the grid refs. Probably solo unless someone wants to tag along. Was considering actually cooking as well rather than pub foo...

It's good that you question what you do and why Stu - and even better that you keep deciding to keep on trucking with this community. You and Dee have set up something that had turned into something very special, and there aren't many places like this. I feel like I have made some very good friends ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022

And in the nick of time I bagged my December BAM. Deciding to collect a bunch of veloviewer squares and my December bivvy in one go I set off at 7pm last night and headed south west. Eventually I found some woods that looked promising near the Cotswold village of Batsford and set up in a grassy clea...

Re: Diesel Heater For A Van Question.

I bought a MV Airo diesel heater from Kiravans about 4 years ago- cost about £600 - they have a sale every so often and they can be under £600. I fitted it myself, and it's fine if you take your time ' took me a day. You need to drop the fuel tank but that was straightforward, just run the fuel leve...

2023 - Plans, rides and things to look forward to

Around this time every year we have a thread about things we want to do in the coming year, whether that's events, rides, targets, or just stuff. So here goes for 2023: -New Zealand (already booked) to see daughter. Lots of south island sightseeing and maybe a bike race... - BB Winter Event - cos it...

Re: Festive Theme - Three Crowns

I think the HT550, Big Bear and Dales Divide would be worthy. And not just because I've done all 3...😁

Something like the GBDuro would fit as well, but it's not the same format as the others.....

How about 3 end to ends? Cambrian Trail, English coast to coast and Scottish coast to coast?

That'll be the spare room, to go alongside the main bedroom and next door to the kitchen

Hey Steve, don't give up hope, ebikes were invented for people like you. Get yourself one, chip it and you'll never pedal with those knees again, but will be out riding.

Stay positive fella!

Great post, interesting reading even if I'm unlikely to be riding anywhere very cold any time soon. I always found Aidan Harding's blog interesting RE his Idita experiences. Re: What does your Christmas look like?

We've a different Christmas this year. Usual family do tomorrow (my side of the family - sisters, mum and dad and nieces and nephews, plus 2 of mine plus their partners). Then Christmas day we're off to Helens mums, but my eldest and middle one are away so only 1 of my kids will be around, and he's ...

Stainless can crack and fail Mart (one reason it's not allowed on suspension bolts on cars), whereas chrmoly will stretch - chromoly steel should be what you want.

Re: 2022 Plans (to go with the 2021 Reflections thread)

Today I started back at work on a 3 day week (in truth I was getting a bit fed u...

Re: Surly vs Fox Fork

Is the wheel off centre or just the rim? I had a pair of SIDs many moons ago that I crashed, and it must have pushed 1 dropout nearer to the crown than the other, so whilst the wheel was central, the 0.5mm change at the dropout resulted in the rim being 10mm off centre at the fork crown. Not sure ho...
