Re: Question from a newbie to tubeless

It is a very good idea to carry a tubeless repair kit too.

Weldlite etc do them and they work well, takes a few goes to get it down pat mind.

If you are feeling flush then Dynoplug are bloody brilliant.

Re: Yet again - Leave No Trace.

Fires are great... I am happy to have one if the area is suitable ie there is a safe place for said fire and plenty of fuel available that doesn't involve destroying anything. That said it's pretty rare I can be arsed.... most likely to happen if there is an existing fire spot or on a beach. I've ne...

Re: WRT the Star and the weather thread

So it dawned on me last night that this was this coming weekend. Oh 'eck. Found the bike languishing behind the ironing board in the dining room, all very Cluedo, worrying that the ironing board has seen more recent use than the bike. The bike was exactly as I'd left it after the Winter Event, fully...

Re: Replacing a Bonty Mustang rear wheel

I'd have binned the Bonty rims at point of sale... but I know they have served you well. Depending on where the hole is you could just put a spot of super glue or similar. The question is is this the start of a general giving up of the rim material. You've put them through a lot and general fatigue ...

Re: contact lenses?

Tried contacts 15 years ago... perhaps the best decision I ever made. Freed me up to bike and play hockey etc with no worries. As mentioned above, lots of different brands etc. Strangely enough I like the slightly thicker, stiffer ones that allow slightly less air to the eye. This is because they ar...

Re: 29er 3" tyres on 30/35 internal rims ?

I'd say 35 internal would be spot on for a 3'' tyre. I like the transition that the shape gives when cornering, a 50 internal with 3'' tyres is a terrific way to get into a boom or bust situation ever time I tip the bike in... that said I am not talking about riding a laden bike here, for that the g...

Re: Anti Gun Bike Brand Boycot?

The world is full of both wonder and woe. If I isolate any one thing in my life or even any one thing I am intending to do in the next hour I can find reasons not to do it, not to have it. The world has become a bewildering place where I have had to protect my sanity by developing my own system of f...

Re: whats the best cuben fibre tarp

Looking at this with interest.

Been wanting a pocket tarp and bathtub for months but I reckon it's around £250 to get it here... ouch.

Trekkertent Steath 1.5 is on my radar, I like that it is modular and the weights are good.

But that pocket tarp is calling me.

There's going to be a bar?? Set it where you like, make sure there's cider and gin to cater for my on trend dietary requirements and stuff the route, I'm for getting hammered in a field.

Re: WRT - Scary? Unappealing?

My comments about being none the wiser after reading the blurb were somewhat tongue in cheek. For me taking a step into the unknown is part of the appeal, the fact it causes me a little anxiety and promises to challenge me is a reason to do it rather than a reason not to. That said, I've suggested i...
