Re: Do you remember your first time?
We always camped out as kids - summer holidays would be spent high up in the fields that overlooked the village. Most folk had obtained ex-German army sleeping bags which were waterproof, so tents were generally lacking. However, I think the first time I did something that could be deemed as 'bikep...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Not really a swim as such, but a stand up to the waist for a while whilst chatting, followed by a coffee and watching the sun rising up from behind the trees. -4 air temperature, 4.9 in the water. Definitely cheery start to the day :-bd https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52638303959_cdc096fa34_z.jp...

Do you remember your first time?
Whilst sorting out boxes of old photos, I came across these two. Summer 1988, aged 16, my first cycling tour, youth hostelling it round Lake Constance with my friend (I'm the one on the right in both photos). Have any of you got any photos or stories to share of your first cycling tours/ bikepacking...

Wellies as in you ride in Dunlop's (or whatever brand) Aren't they a little too flexible? At least I have a few local places scoped for a short overnighter. Finger crossed for tomorrow night I think. Ermm, when you say "ride" ..... Whatever opinion you have of me, may I suggest you...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.
Went out for my January BAM, phew, I had been worried that my BAM mojo might have been deserting me.... Below zero throughout, no idea how low it went, but it definitely got milder as the night went on (judging by the degree of slushy/frozenness of my water bottle); when I was back home and got in t...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
What nobody's had a cheery Friday since 3rd January?!? So me, yes I know it's nothing like the real thing, after a decent wattbike session at lunchtime I now feel that my health has been restored...any lost fitness will surely follow... Now all I need to do is shake off my "lightweight" st...

Re: Photos you have taken in the last month of which you like.
@Sean I know what you mean, I've had the same dilemma looking at some of mine in that quarry...the bleakness sort of begs for black and white, but then somehow in colour, which is very very similar, it sort of shows even more just how bleak it is ... Happy memories of a great weekend! Seems ages ago!!

Re: Winter Event GR.
Auntie Pauline keeps erratic hours - wholeheartedly approve of that meself tbh - but can't remember what time she flung the doors wide last year. Much as LBM is a pleasant enough place I don't fancy standing in a wet windswept carpark for any length of time. It's bad enough having to come by car in...

Re: Shall we talk about balaclavas aswell, shall we!
Popping off to Google silk balaclava. I often struggle bivvying with draughts and have thought a light weight balaclava would be just the thing. Wouldn't that be very expesnive and possibly harder to breath through Phil - due to the the tight knit on silk? Mine is lovely and thin and easy to breath...
