Re: Frame bag bladder recomendations

Just don't do what I've done and forget to check how much water you have when you stop and not bother to top up. I find it a lot easier to forget when I'm using a bladder compared to bottles.

That reminds me, use Russian caravan tea bags so that you don’t need to use two bags to get a strong cuppa.

Re: OT question for the over 50's.

I hit 50 during the pandemic and I think about the past less than I did when I hit 40, despite there being so much more time available for introspection. I get the odd bit of nostalgia about what could have happened if life zigged instead of zagged but I spend far more time looking forwards.

It's a pithy slogan but reality is a bit more nuanced than that. Stay at Home (except for exercise, shopping, work, education or caring for someone in your social bubble), Protect the NHS (since it's underfunded and understaffed but the government doesn't want to take responsibility for that so push...

Tea theoretically has more caffeine than coffee though only if you chew on the leaves to extract it.

Re: Today's Run

The sun was out I so thought I'd loop over the (small) ridgeline via a footpath that I vaguely remember having walked on years ago. The highlight was being circled by an Apache helicopter from the MOD base. The furthest I've run so far in terms of distance, time and elevation: 9.2k in 57 minutes and...

Re: Topical Article By A Woman Who Bothies Alone

When I was 17-18 or so and walking to my weekend job at 5:30-6 in the morning in the dark, I was about 20' behind a woman in a business suit, wheeling a suitcase obviously heading to the station at the end of the road when I realised that I was going to be late for work so just burst in to a run. I'm having difficulty imagining how you'd get thigh rub on a bag that's behind you unless you generate so many watts that you create some form of spatial distortion field. Or your legs are on back to front. If money is no object then there's a tailfin setup (a 20l bag, iirc). There's a few companies...

‘96 in a bar in West London, watching England beat France in the five nations. Strictly speaking it was a Francophile bar and they were expats but you did ask. Out of curiosity where do Spanish, German and French twenty somethings go on holiday? I would have thought the UK would be on the pricy side.

Re: Another busy summer of BBQ, campfires and litter?

The problem around here is that the chase proved so popular last summer that cannock council's grand plan to combat that is to close all the laybys and small free carparks while charging for parking at the biggest carpark. It's going to be bedlam in all the surrounding villages.
