Re: Bivvy a month 2018.
Reg seriously, you are cementing legend status with that kip in an old hen house. I love using disused buildings. Nice one mate. As for me, I headed out rather late last night - just after 830pm as I was faffing about like a tool. Rode a gentle 15 or so miles to a spot in Weadon Hill woods that I'd ...

Orlieb seat pack
Bought on a whim when overcome by the need for retail therapy. Used only half a dozen times, and mostly by people I lent it to. Here's a pic of it fitted on a ride out in March last year. It's very sturdy, very stable and the bungy straps on the top are very useful. Its best feature is the air bleed...

And he poked a spider and rode through a herd of cows. Doesn't he know how scary spiders are, or that cows, after ticks, are the most dangerous animals in Britain? Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaark!!! Apart from the gratuitous camp fire idiocy (it's not like it was cold either) I really enjoyed the video, and his ...

Reg, mate, trust me on this, you will tie yourself in a big old bow trying to sort out dinner orders if you do it on here. However, if the concept of self-flagellation floats yer boat, I'll be going with: STARTERS: Wild Mushroom Risotto with Parsnip Crisps and Walnut Oil MAINS: Roast Salop Turkey, P...

Hammockers, who's tried the klymit hammock V pa
I've no idea how long it's been around, but I've not seen it before and I quite like the idea of it, if not the size and weight. Online reviews say it works better with a double layered hammock, which it would, yes.

I'd split that if I were you. Jones Bars? You'll get a million pounds for them. Not from me, of course, I think they're the Devils work, but would part with £100 for the wheels and tyres. Just saying ..... Edit: WHAAAAADAMINTUTE ..... what are those bars? Jones are all sweepy and they're angular but...

Re: need a good compact powerbank?
Looks like you've already pulled the trigger. I've used a few over the years Tony and most have lasted just a few months, fizzing out if they get wet or not taking much of a charge after 20 or 30 cycles. Ive settled on this one, the FosPower PowerActive charger thingy. It will recharge an iPhone fro...

Do you reckon my tweed trousers who be acceptable? Neve worn them bikepacking, but I once did a century in them (matched with a tweed coat and cap) round Regents Park in that there London on a fixie in the pissing rain. T'was horrid and I don't wear trousers much anymore. That's a tight pair of shor...

Re: Yet another damn fire
Frankly the more the mainstream media publish stuff like this the less I have to explain to people when I tell them I sleep in the woods. No one I know who straps stuff to their bike does so because they read something in the Telegraph, so bring it on. Bikepacking is a fusion of mountain biking, cyc...

Re: Do I need a bigger one?
Late in here. As above, 20mm bigger on the rear won't make much difference - Ive got 160mm on the back of all my bikes and it's plenty, as the front end does most of the braking. But 203mm on the front will make a big difference, especially if you've got 160mm there at the moment.

Thanks for posting. Mike was a genuine hero and his death was an unspeakable tragedy. He deserves justice and the people he left behind deserve the support of those among us who admired him.

Well, it's better than sticking your head in a pot of boiling chip fat, but I do crave something more adventurous. Long Mynd winter bivvy perhaps (cat out of the bag ...... )There's something quite satisfying in pulling off a stealthy semi-urban bivi as Tim found in Richmond Park.

Jesus Gairy, you're blurring the lines between bikepacking and cycle touring with that kind of talk. Dangerous radical thinking there. Keep doing it. Anyone who thinks it matters needs to develop a sense of perspective ... or just feck off. I try to get out twice a month, manage once if Im lucky, an...

Re: Waterproof Overtrousers
Once again Im voting for a pair of army goretex trousers cut down to 3/4s. Cheap, very light, totally waterproof and last forever. Mine are now six years old and I cant fault them.
