Re: People's Chilterns Winter Bivvy Front of Judea

Reg is, of course, quite right. We, the riders of the People's Chilterns Winter Bivvy Front of Judea, are the true keepers of the faith. As for the numbers, me and Dr Nick are just the starting point. Sam and our mate Adam will be there provided they can find their bikes, and I'm quietly confident w...

Yah Dr Nick!! :-bd :-bd A bimble is most certainly a social pace. If I'm not able to carry on a conversation while riding, I figure I'm going too fast. bimble /ˈbɪmb(ə)l/Submit INFORMAL•BRITISH verb 1. walk or travel at a leisurely pace. "on Sunday we bimbled around Spitalfields and Brick Lane&...

Cool Tonto. Minor change of plan re the bivvi spot (will be Hodgemoor Woods now) but that's closer to the starting point anyway.

People's Chilterns Winter Bivvy Front of Judea

Anyone else unable to make the Midlands-Chilterns mash up on the Long Mynd feel like a more local bimble on 15 December? For the sake of tradition, I think we might follow a similar route to previous years, starting in Berko around 1pm, afternoon tea at the Cafe in the Woods at Wendover, dinner at a...

backcountry.scot with a Cumulus M350 Comforter
Oooooooooooh .... Ive got one of their hammock quilts, but always wondered whether the Comforter might not have been a better option, as it's clearly more versatile. Be interested to hear thoughts on it after a few uses.

Re: Forum clock / time

Ah ... daylight saving, and all that. A story from my past. Queensland, Australia, does not do daylight saving There were a few state referenda on it, and it was voted down because, and I kid you not, the extra sunlight would fade the curtains and the cows wouldn't know when to come in for milking. ...

Friday 16 Nov Chilterns ride anyone?

Anyone interested? Meet here at the Chalfont St Giles village green around 5pm for a 10-15 mile bimble depending on weather and appetites. Could meet later, but 6pm would be the limit. http://wdcdn.co/Media/low/960/960/45e149a2-da03-412d-80ff-5a82474f57a6.jpg We will eventually find ourselves here, ...

Re: Another Winter Bivvy :)

Cheers fellas. Depending on her start time Sunday I may organise a splitter ride and head for Sam's field again, just to keep the tradition going. It's only half an hour from home so provided I get my arse out early enough it won't be a drama. Be keeping clear of that poncey pub though. If it hadn't...

I may have to bale on this ... Daughter qualified today for her pony club regional championships on 16 Dec. After the year of hell she's had with her previous horse, I'm not sure I can miss it .......... conflicted.

Reg mate, yeah, oddly enough it was strangely bitter-sweet. We were never meant to be together, and we both knew it way back then. Even so, after so many years, the simple things that drew us together then were still there. I like that. I like that very much.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

I had lunch with an old girlfriend today - a lady who predates my now defunct marriage, which takes us back to Sydney, 1992, when I last saw her. Bondi Beach, bbqs and a summer that stretched into forever. She was funny, intelligent and informed back them, and she is even more so today. Annoyingly, ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

October done. I nearly baled as my son has my warmer sleeping bag, but I figured my quilt would be fine if I layered up a bit with a jacket, and indeed it was. I rode out from home, followed the Misbourne River (not that there's much of a river anymore) up through Amersham and Hyde Heath, then picke...

Re: BB calendar - any interest.

I'll have one. I dont use them myself, but I will send it to my mother in Aussie, who, every year, sends me two or three featuring Australian wildlife, Australia beaches, Australian geological features. Once, in a moment of madness, she sent me a calendar featuring pictures of ladies in bikinis .......

No worries fella. November is going to be Friday 16th if anyone's about. Suspect I will be working again, so it will be a late start and a short ride, but better than nothing.

Friday night South Bucks venture?

If off for my October BAM tomorrow night (Friday) - about 20 miles of Chilterns paths followed by a pub dinner, camp somewhere near Penn Street, I think, and up early.

Not sure it does. The Rockgeist jobbie lets you attach feed bags on the side of the stem, as well as a top tube bag. I think I might be ordering one anytime about right now.

Sean, I've not been to the IoW for years but would love a return. If you're planning a Not the BAM in November, reckon you could let us all know? Reg clearly has a "soft" spot for the place too. Us Chilteners have become expert at dossing down in spots that "normal" bikepackers (...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

The thing I like about Reg's journeys is the inevitable interaction with the local wildlife. I've seen him in action, asking a waitress at flash restaurant if there might be any chance she could find a skerric of milk for his morning porridge. Legend.
