I would take a long sleeved full zip, possibly a short sleeved as well if finances allow at the time.

Re: PSA top tube bag and other useful bits

Thanks for the info, that handle bar bracket os just what I'm looking for to lift my lights up over my dry bag. :-bd Do you think both those top tube bags would fit at the same time?

Re: Msr Hubba or similar recommended?

I have the Hubba Hubba, its a great tent, can be pitched inner, outer or both depending on the conditions. It's easy to pack away but in saying that the pack size is pretty big for a 2 man. The single pole means it goes up in a couple of minutes and just as quick coming down. Would prefer bigger ves...

Re: European Off-road Mapping

I use justgoride.co.uk to create gpx routes, it gives you the choice of google and OS maps and you can switch between them. Google links up road sections quickly for you the OS shows more detail off road but requires a bit more input

Has anyone used the Alpkit Numo? I'm looking for a new mat but I was made redundant recently so I'm on a tight budget.

Re: Which GPS?

I've ended up using my old Sony phone with the GPX viewer app inside a BTR phone bag on my top tube and it's worked a treat, I get 2 days out of the battery and a full charge off my power monkey so I could probably manage a 4 day trip no problem. I'll get a proper GPS unit at some point but money's ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2016.

Aye it's a pity Ray, it's more of a shed than a bothy but it was a braw we place to go for a night away locally when I lived in Fife. It's only about a half hours walk from a couple of different villages and easily accessible so I guess there's a lot of youngsters use it for a party at the weekend. ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2016.

So after going on my first bikepacking adventure with Ray and the boys on the Scottish Winter Bivvy I decided to give the bivvy a month challenge a go this year. I set off on Saturday morning to catch the train across to Fife with a heavy head, instead of packing up my bike the night before my OH ha...

Re: Todays ride

A bit of adventure commuting for me today thanks to a small fall of snow and sub zero temps (And sun at last!) Home form Glenrothes over the Lomond hills (a pair of Marilyns in Fife) with a fair depth of snow (OK 4") above 300m and a nice clear moonlit night http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Goals

I'm new to bikepacking so to get into the swing of things I want to try and do the bivvy a month challange. Already got a free pass organised for the end of this month!

I'd also like to do the capital trail as an ITT, don't know if my pace will be up to completing it in the allotted time though!

I had a great weekend Ray, thanks again for organising the route and doing the coal drop. That's me finally getting round to washing the bike today! I think I need to get the old hardtail out before I come out again, it was a hard slog on the full susser!

I've managed to pick 2 up this year, took a really bad reaction to the first one. My leg was so swollen I could hardly walk for a week!

Re: Which GPS?

Thanks for all the advice guys, I think I might go with a Dakota. I'm not fussed for HR or cadence etc. Just want something I can plumb a gpx into and get away out. The replaceable batteries are also a bonus, I thought about getting a dynamo hub to run the touring but that's an expense I could do wi...

I've been looking at buying a Garmin Edge Touring. Has anyone got any experience of using this for navigation or is there a better option out there around the similar price?

Re: Scotland SE Winter Bothy, Sat 5 Dec.

Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum, love cycling and camping and I've been looking at getting into bike packing for a while now. I would have loved to join you but saturday is my birthday so I'm being dragged to Edinburgh for the day by the other half! I might have a crack at heading to bunnys down the c...
