Re: Seat Pack advice please
Thanks all for the feedback! I have been informed in clear terms that a classic rack is not an option  I did wonder about putting a small seat pack on top of the Alpkit rail thing or even bending the rail down to form a mini rack so a small seat pack could go on top of it and still be mostly ...

Seat Pack advice please
Hi All My girlfriend has a new bike and would like to use it for bike packing but being a small frame and 29'er wheels there is not a lot of clearance as you can see from the photo. Looking for suggestions for a seat pack that might fit please. Appreciate that it will be pretty small if it fits at a...

I have one of these and am very happy with it. Been on many trips, takes pretty good photos and is easy to use. Second hand available within your budget. There is a free phone App you can get that allows you to control the camera remotely from your phone and dead easy to transfer photos from the cam...

Re: Patagonia - Earth is now our only shareholder.
Barring a miracle, (electrical generation using nuclear fusion maybe?) I think we are probably screwed. But it's worth pointing out that Yvon Chouinard is one of the good guys, he's been buying areas of Patagonia and making them into protected parks for years. He also lets his employees go surfing ...

Ranting and raving in a woodworkers forum? Surely they're the Vic n Bob Gone Fishing of the craft world. You'd imagine their blood pressures would be at the bottom end of the scale. I can certainly understand your rage Dave, I remember you sharing with us at the time, not nice at all. My own parent...

I dont see anything brave in what they are doing if this was North Korea ,and it was dear leaders death, would those out wailing be the brave ones or the ones holding up signs? Its ironic you call people "nothing people" whilst telling us you dont like them and then tell us Questioning wh...

That letter sums up my feelings (bit of a nothing person tbh). I disagree Dave, I don't know you personally but from looking at your contributions on her you clearly have thoughtful points of view rather than a dogmatic my way or the high way point of view not all of which are going to be universal...

I'me enjoying this tread and the opinions/stances taken by the contributors. I don't feel the need to queue to be in the same place as a dead person but fully respect that some people do, and while there will be a load of spurious reasons for doing so I am sure that there are just as many valid pers...

Re: Garmin Edges
Just as a follow up, I got impatient and bought an edge 530. Used it twice now with varying success. Spent a while ploughing through various menus to try to set it up like I want it. It's similar to the old edge 200 I have (well a bit) so less difficult than coming from the dakota so this was done ...

"Cyclists are having a whale of a time on Liverpool Road because they can do more than 20mph on their bikes and we can't do more than 20mph in a car" Just re-read this bit. Where does she get the idea that cyclists "can" do more than 20mph. Presumably she means to say "allo...

Generally considered to be on and/or from the the wrong side of the tracks! Right hander. Usually ride on the right side of a track unless the terrain demands otherwise or there is other traffic and lead with my left foot. (possibly due to an accident to the right knee some years ago)

Re: RWGPS fill in the map challange.
Difficult one. I find inspiration reading and following other peoples' rides and routes and enjoy researching my own routes around such information but, equally, I find myself (totally irrationally) annoyed when people expect to just download a route and follow the dots without any of their own inp...

I also think our lust for low price consumer electronics comes back to bite us. The engineering in these devices is astonishing when you look at it in detail. A tiny device that connects to satellites in seconds and performs complex mathematics on the fly… Yet we want to pay around about 2 tanks of...

Re: May Monkey Brain
Waxing philosophical, contentment is just another word for happiness for the status quo. It’s no less illusory than the endless pursuit of a new joy. It can stem from ignorance or it can stem from apathy just as much as it can stem from genuine acceptance that life is good enough. Is too much conte...
