Re: Bargain Alert Thread

as ,long as you have removable valve cores then it just needs to be small enough to fit in the valve and large enough to not clog with stans I have used a variety including the epic bleed ones and ones from the vets https://www.epicbleedsolutions.com/products/bleed-kit-spares/ you do not need a £12 ...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

do you mean use stans in an inner tube?
If so you will need something

personally i unscrew the valves and then use a syringe - this is for injection into a seated tyre I have never used stans in a tube

Re: Garmin Dakota bike mount recommendation

my etrex was ejected from that mount three times so I also use the RAM mount- it was very poor.
Secure as can be with space for batteries underneath and never ejected it yet - i cannot see what would except for smashing it to bits crashing

You may need to be careful under the trade descriptions act and i advise you to stick to saying "you will get three days in Wales with your bike"

Re: Presta and shock pump

i had one and it was poor at both options though it sort of worked for both ...just. I then carried a shock pump but I gave up carrying a it as I had not used it in 4 years. Currently I use a Lezyne pump that will do 120 psi so i can use it for the forks in an emergency I think you can still buy dua...

me neither nor any sort of explanation of power or how many cycles you can get from it

yes you can wait 25 years but how many times can you dip it in water and it works?

does it need to be fresh or sat water?

Powdered milk + Muesli- add water to soak overnight to make bircher muesli

Re: Lezyne Mega XL GPS - A Modern GPS For Bikepackers?

I can’t see the benefit that a dedicated GPS has over my phone its waterproof so works in the rain, it runs for about 22 hours on batteries and i can replace them easily and they are cheaper than a good phone so less annoying if you break it A phone , with the screen on all the time, is going to be...

Re: Resurrecting a Sawyer Mini water filter

as it uses a mechanical method of filtering - ie an actual physical barrier- i cannot see how storage deteriorates it

I would imagine it is fine but i am no expert

you can contact them at the bottom of this page

Re: LOCK -strong and light [so probly not cheap]

couldn't be faffing with that! I have only done it twice but its preferable to the weight penalty of carrying a heavy lock for a month for the two times you might need it and more substantial than those cheap lightweight cable locks There is no ideal solution to this issue its just which compromise...

Re: LOCK -strong and light [so probly not cheap]

my solution is to remove the chain using the quick link and then use the chain as a lock securing the chain with a padlock Pluses are 1. this is cheap 2. looks strong 3. pretty long 4. hardly any weight penalty Negatives 1. You can only fit a small padlock so that will be the weak point 2. might be ...

I just rode it W-E and thought it seemed easier than the reverse way - only way I have done it mind- from riding it Personally I would need some persuasion to ride the broken road upwards to the damn rather than the road the other side of the river. I may need to look at my stop being soft sticker f...

Re: Trans Cambrian Way ITT

If you are thinking of riding it, do it now Doing it next Tuesday The climbs on the Dovey to Knighton leg seem more brutal though (especially the Foel Fadian climb). Counting down the climbs was my main brain activity on the way back. And doing it that way considerably more gently paced than you Go...

Re: A bit of storage and route ideas required

IMHO it depends on how hard you want it to be in the lakes going across from boot and then up walna scar road from seathwaite with a fully laden bike its definitely type 2 fun and bring some decent walking shoes. that said the other route [ you put up]seems to flirt with the lakes rather than embrac...
